It was recorded first by Peter Paul&Mary in 1966...Nyro recorded it on her debut album in 1967 and BS&T recorded it in 1968. It became a #2 hit in the US. It was my first karaoke song I sang in the US in 1998 (my very first karaoke performance was somewhere in Japan..I think earlier that same year). It got me hooked on singing. (I made a VR of the original a few years ago but never made a recording til today.) David Clayton Thomas was the front man at that time. He is currently 78years old.
