Tonight I went to karaoke all by myself for the first time since I moved in with my boyfriend. We have spent the last couple months deteriorating and a couple weeks ago it all came to a head and we split. I went with good intentions to sing a few songs and enjoy myself. As the night wore on I realized how much I actually missed Jay, and then one of the other singers sang If Tomorrow Never Comes. I was a shambles, I had to leave my table and go to the bathroom and compose myself. I realized at that point that not only did I still love him but I was on a clock to fix things. I came home and woke him up and we talked. We are back together, stronger than ever. All because a song hit me the right way... has anyone ever had this (or anything remotely like this) happen to them?

Well Yes but Kinda In reverse ...back in the 70's I was in my Teens and had a girlfriend And Back then I was a jealous guy I guess.. or atleast worried all the time. I went to my Girlfriends house and caught her singing "Torn between two lovers" By Mary Macgregor. then the phone rang and her mom Called out..."Nancy Adam's On the Phone"  I took off...went to the Ice cream Pub to sulk over a cup of coffee then that stupid song came on the radio..I listened to every freaken word and hated her more......
she called asked me what was wrong why havent I called then I found out Adam was her Nephew....her sisters Kid of 6 In New Jersey.
we parted ways when she went to college and I took off for arizona. but still keep intouch every so often.

Im Flying to New York on July 6th to Visit Some Friends I called Nancy she Said Meet me at the Beach. 29 years later.... who knows she might think Im still cute  with alot less hair.

I'll have to check my I-Pod to make sure that song is on it so I can hear it on the plane ride.

Lets see...Bobbi.....Crystal.....Nancy..... Damn ,,,I need to rewrtie that song ,,,it will be a hit

Wow now that was a BAD coincidence. As for hair? Well *I* think you're cute, full head of hair or not... quite possible she will too. If you hear her singing something, don't assume anything LOL

First of all fierynette, that's great news! I am very happy for you.

Next, I thought I had an epifone once but it turned out to be a knockoff brand. I got it a pawnshop.

Oops, we're talking about epiphonies and not a guitar? ...nevermind.

OK, I looked up epiphany. I don't get those, I'm too shallow for that kind of thinking.

Happy birthday fierynette, so you're 21 and just now old enough to go sing karaoke without a chaperone.

You must be having a great week now. :)

This is a great place to get with people that do that. I should try looking myself. We used to be part of a larger crowd that went singing together. There was always something to talk about, never a dull moment.

I'm glad we have this website, it will help.

Yeah it would be cool to not have to go alone on the nights we have all the kids here. Last night was ok.. just not as good as it would have been with friends.

Fierynette,

Happy Birthday :oh yeah: You're now old enough to smoke, drink and fool around—but not necessarily in that order.  As an older, but not wiser, person the only counsel I can give you is that while the order you do those things doesn't matter, it can be dangerous to try to do them all simultaneously.  So be careful.

I'm glad you and your boyfriend are back together.  I've been reading your stuff for several days and you seemed so focused on his son and his needs—which is really important— that I got the impression you're not leaving much for you.  Please don't neglect that.   If there's no YOU in your life things get dull pretty quick and that's not a good thing.

What's this epiphany stuff?  I swear, this forum is turning into an internet based Oprah show!  LOL

I try to avoid epihanies whenever possible.  I've had so many life changing events I'm not sure who I am now and I'd rather not experience another one until I have some kind of handle on the current version of me.

I did have one once that nearly wrecked my marriage.  I was driving alone to see my mom in Nebraska (12 hour drive).  I was listening to a Gordon Lightfoot CD.  When "Did She Mention My Name" came on.  It brought back a lot of memories and feelings I hadn't explored for a while.  Suddenly, I realized that I had some pretty strong feelings for a co-worker.  We had been on several business trips together and had worked closely together on numerous projects but I had never thought of her as anything but a good friend.

My trip was consumed with thoughts of her.  And the more I thought about it the more I began to wonder if she had been giving me signals that she was interested too.  I also thought a lot about my marriage and the more I thought about it the more I realized that my feelings for my wife had pretty much dropped to zero.  There were a lot of issues with us and no real solutions.

I decided that I needed to talk to her when I got back.  I was kind of afraid to do it because I didn't want to screw up a good frienship.  Well, we talked and it turned out that there was a pretty strong mutual attraction.  But there really wasn't anything we could do about it.  Despite her attraction to me, she loved her husband very much and she was afraid of risking what they had.  On my part, my youngest daughter was 3 and while I didn't want to do anything to mess up her life.  She deserved much better than that.

So we agreed to do nothing.  We remained friends but after I left to take another job our friendship gradually diminished.

12 years later my marriage did end.  I haven't seen her for a long time and I've always kind of wondered what might have been if our lives had been less complicated at the time.

I do know that what I experienced on that trip was the beginning of the end of my marriage.  It just took a long time before I was in a position to get out.  I never hear that song without recalling the very strong feelings it evoked while I was on that trip.

Larry

I had an Epiphany once, she had a sister named Willow. Their parents did a lot of drugs back in the 60's ;)
Oh yeah and a HIPPY BIRTHDAY to ya.

we have a lot more in common than being from the midwest larry.....i do believe that someday you and your friend may find each other...but one thing i do know, is the preciousness of a friendship shared from love is the best thing a guy could ever ask for...beats relationships hands down, and if a persons really lucky, they'll find both.my friend did with her marriage so i totally believe it  :hi5: i dont think a guy as cool as you will have to wait long to find both..thanks for reminding me larry that when the feelings are gone in a relationship, its best not to let it drag out any longer than it should..hey buddy, send me some cheese and ill send you a Walleye !
