I'll give an example. The very people who I have enjoyed trading posts with have had to read posts from me over the last few days that were a little too revealing. Giving away too much information is a good way to lose the online mystique that keeps people interesting. It was also a bad idea because in the first few hundred posts I was having fun and just posting little quips. This may have trapped people into reading some of my less fun posts. I got to be too serious when humor was what I really needed.

I have decided to return to my old style of posting. The style of just a few days ago when my posts where easier to skim through and sometimes entertaining. In the meantime, I will stay off the forum as much as possible.

Starting 16 threads in such a short time was probably a little overboard too. So I decided to start a thread to complain that I start too many threads.

I should have avoided posting anything in the last 4 or 5 days.

What do you think?

Sorry but it's too late.

The Big Brother computer has already captured all your posts and traced your
IP to your address. Now your home phone and cell phone are tapped...And if you haven't noticed, you have a new mail carrier too....Crack open the blinds and you will see an unmarked sedan up the street that wasn't there yesterday. I suggest you no longer order food deliveries cause they know you never eat pizza crusts and they hide mics in the crusts.

I'm sure you've noticed that your boss has started treating you different too...That's cause he has been mining all your posts with his cyber sneak software.

I wouldn't worry too much about what you've posted on this forum, it's those pics you posted elsewhere that are gonna bite you! LMAO  LMAO  LMAO

Just kidding! :D

Nah... you made yourself feel better doing it, so it wasn't too much. Nice to know that some of us spilling our guts helped you. Oh and mystique? What is that?? lmao I am an open book, that's not gonna change.

What a relief only one sedan.
(I've always wanted to use that cliche)

Oh yah, mystique is the hot blue chic on X-Men. :)

It's only my opinion but I would say it's time to stop posting when they pry the keyboard from your cold, lifeless fingers.

People seek out forums, so they can be among folks of similar interest. You are able to gain information and insight to the subject such as the Karaoke forum here. You take advice from the more seasoned veterans, learn the do's and don'ts. You gain trust and develop friendships. This soon becomes your social life by default. Your friends and family get tired of hearing you go on and on about Karaoke. In their minds, it's just Karaoke. So you seek out your comfort zone which in this case is here. It's not uncommon for folks to eventually start sharing personal info about themselves, because in your mind, as well as mine, if anyone's going to understand, it'll be these guys and gals. Sure at times it can become a bit obsessive, addictive if you will. I think we all go through that to a certain degree. Chances are anything you've gone through or are going through, there's a good possibility that someone here has gone or is going through the same thing.
I go to my neighborhood bars, where I meet friends and we share conversation and a cold brew. I don't see any difference here, except you're not sitting face to face with someone. You still talk about your life, the ups and downs, the good and the bad.
Now granted if you spend 24/7 online and start neglecting family, friends and job, there may be a problem. But on the other hand, it can be a release, a sort of cyber therapy.
If you didn't have this outlet, what would you do, keep it bottled up inside? Not a good thing. So having an outlet is a positive thing, as long as it doesn't consume your life in the real world.
Remember it's just a forum, not a substitute, just like effects on a voice or makeup on a pretty lady, it's meant to enhance the experience, not become the experience itself. It can be overdone. It's learning when to say when that becomes the key, just like when you've had too much to drink or eat, you should know when you've had enough. But we're human and we've all over indulged at one point in our lives.
You have to learn to post in moderation and remember above all things,
never post and drive. ;)

Well, I am surprised that some people here don't have jobs or other interests. I don't mean it in a negative way, it's just people seem to post 24x7. I check in maybe once a day if I am lucky. Sometimes I can't check for few days. I noticed that some threads get to 10-15 pages in a few days. I mean, that's a lot of posts. I think moderation is the key to not burn out on anything. Just a thought.

Yeah, but we all know cause you admitted it....You are here looking for a date. LMAO

I sure hope you take time to eat and change skivies LMAO

Seriously, I see a pattern here and in other forums....Folks have spaces/times in their life where the kinda coast along and turn to the web forums for an outlet/inlet....I do it myself..I'm sure there are a few who have absolutely no life, but there are also folks who just like to share it with anyone lucky enuff to be online at the time.

To many posts - no
If a post doesn't interest someone they will skip over it.
I'd say you have to many posts when people stop replying.
I think it is an addiction - I try to pop on at least once a day. The problem
is, once I'm on I don't want to get off.

I have a job... it's called mom of 3 boys. However 2 of those boys are away right now, and I am with my now ex boyfriend and his son in the house. I can't work currently because I need to be here for the kids. It allows me more flexibility on the computer, especially lately. I don't know about others, maybe some have computers in their workplace...maybe some have home businesses.

Let's see...I've been a member of this forum since May of 2003, and I think Ispend way too much time here.

This is post number 415 for me since I've joined.

You've been a member for 23 days (at the time of this posting) and have 606 posts.

Or, to put it another way, there are 552 hours in 23 days which comes out to just about 1.1 posts for every single hour you've been a member.  I'd say that's a little overboard!  Get off the computer for a while and get some fresh air.  It'll do you some good!

(Don't forget to turn the lights off and on 20 times on the way out just to make sure they are REALLY off...LOL)

Thanks Keith, you said it for me better than I did myself. When my kids come back I won't have nearly as much time as I do right now, this is giving me an outlet as I adjust to my new living situation. Plus I am returning to karaoke again (woohoo) so maybe I'll meet some real life people to hang out with.

Back when I was hanging out at the bars every night, there was one of many young mothers who spent a lot of time each night on her cell phone speaking with her kids who were somewhere with some baby sitter.....One night I was standing outside chatting with the bar owner when she came out to answer yet another a phone call from her oldest kid who was 7....I got to hear it all...It changed my life.

She started screaming at him cause he wasn't asleep at 2:30 in the morning....She chewed him out cause he had awakened her other two kids when he called to ask when she was coming home and she could hear them crying in the background....It was a Tuesday night/school night....she asked where the babysitter was....He explained the babysitter was asleep with her boyfriend and he was hungry and so was the other two...and get this, she says "Look, I'm grading papers, I'll be home in time to get you off to school, you go to bed NOW!" then hung up and stomped back inside to be with her latest pickup loser.

That is when I stopped dating single mothers I met in the bars everynight.

That one phone call changed me so deeply that I could never look at them gals in the same way.....And it also changed the way I behaved with them and all women.

Ugh ok that's terrible. I am not (and never will be) like that. I barely go out, in fact until Saturday night I hadn't been out in 2 months. Despite the fact that I love karaoke I wasn't willing to chance leaving my stepson with someone we can't trust. The only reason I can go now is because this week I am totally free. Next week they are coming back, but when I go it will be my ex they will be in care of. I trust him. My first reaction to that conversation you mentioned would have been "I'll be home as soon as I can". Makes me angry when mothers are like that... always putting their wants first... and frig the kids :(

Keith's post made me stop and think. It hurt to think that much all at once. That says a lot about more than just single moms who we see in bars. :)

It costs money to leave the house. I havea lot of chores to do in the daytime since I don't work right now. I'm pretty nuch stuck here so I am also stuck posting to forums.

As big John said but not in so many words, I do spend way too much time here. I love it here but I need to start marketing myself as soon as I can get a deemo made. I have to wait for the money to do that.

There are some jobs that I might be able to get without a demo, I am looking for those right now in addition to posting here, doing the laundry in small loads (small washer), and getting ready to work a real day job just in case.

EDIT: gotta run. I need to get the gold car to the shop and register the purple car.

Keith that makes me sick to my stomach. Those are the kind of woman
who bring their babies in the bar and get drunk in front of them. Oh it turns
my stomach. My kids have never even been in the parking lot of a bar and I work in them. I always
have a cell phone with me in case they need me. Of course they are 16 and 19 now,
but I still get that random call. One time my daughter ran out of gas while I was KJing.  LMAO I put music on jumped in my car and picked her up. Thank goodness it was close by.
Those are the kids that end up being all screwed up because they don't have a parent that gives a hoot. Believe me all single mothers aren't like that!

I'll admit something here...

My wife is yeah, half my age and yeah, she gas huge gazongas, and yeah, she likes horses.........but the most attractive thang about her is.......She  trusts/needs me to be a dad to her daughter.....and that makes me a better man, cuase I know I am a good daddy, and I miss being a daddy.....It makes this old man want to go to work in the morning and stay out of trouble, and be careful with my money, and take care of me.

And it makes me thump my chest to go out in public with them and have they cling to me and rely on me to be there no matter what.

I love it when the wife turns to me cause her child is being difficult and she trust me to settle her down....i love it when the kid crawls up in my lap and whispers her dreams to me and tells me her secrets...and then falls asleep in my lap and makes my legs hurt from her weight.

...and I love it later when my wife reaches for me in her sleep and snores deeply cause she feels safe with me there.
