First thing I thought of when I saw that instrument is "Bach".. I'd hate to pay over 2K for an instrument, and end up getting a bunch of Hanon, and JS Bach books telling me about the importance of practicing my counterpoint, fingering skills, and having to relearn about quarternotes, half-notes, rests, reading treble and bass clef, and practicing two octave scales... ..
Also those damn yellow Schirmer's books for the stick  Fugue for the stick....On the other hand, I'd love to get into Celtic "New-age" style.. (as long as I don't have to learn JS bach stuff again...)...
Kappy whip's out his stick, and does Enya

The link I posted on the previous page was to an audio download from my webserver. It was a tune I personally liked by the Glengarry Bhoys.
They play a mix of music, sure to annoy most. If the blend doesn't get you the bagpipes almost certainly will. Their mix seems to me to be a combo of bluegrass, country, new age, and some good ole highland stomp.
I actually would like to hear thoughts about them if anyone has time. Really, whether you liked them or not and why. Honest opinions please.
I don't like to let go enough to dance but their music hits me in a spot that urges me to grab a beer, slam it down and just dance. Being so out of practice, I should video tape my dancing. It could be either entertaining or painfully embarrassing. I've still got a bit of belly to lose so entertaining might be the right word. Kinda like Justin Wilson when he's stirrin' up a mixture in his kitchen.

Yeah Michael, feel free to post all your stuff in this site All are welcome to... Now whether this is permissible in KS, Not sure.... but, if not, I'll find out
That's why I formed this type link for all musical stuff AFAIC.. and for anyone..
Basically this is comparable to linking to photobucket is it not ? It doesn't take up too much site bandwidth. (I don't think).. Yet I haven't a clue about this stuff

Did any of you see something on the news tonight regarding You Tube site ? There was something I briefly heard regarding people using copywritten ideas, and the fact that more people were viewing certain areas of the site (then certain TV station commericial's were getting hits).. Advertisers have decided to use it too?
Something along those lines.... I need to look this up because some of you might be on a venue that'll get you famous.. .. I should hook up a cam, and show me typing in here... Make it into a series... after 10 minutes I can hold up a sign
............... To be continued
People love cliff hangers !

AH! That's what I need to reference, what that new's article was.. I'll post it if I find it. Not sure if it was NBC, or ABC... You will have manager's call you assuming this site is that popular.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NBC unveils promotional deal with YouTube
NBC will begin offering teasers from its forthcoming fall TV lineup and promos for shows such as "The Tonight Show" and "The Office" on YouTube, following a deal signed with the popular video site that previously has drawn fire from the network.
Under terms of the partnership, YouTube will host an official NBC channel and establish a cross-promotional advertising relationship designed to benefit both companies. NBC becomes the first major content provider to link up with the site that draws some 70 million viewers every day, with 35,000 new videos uploaded daily.
That's a lot of eyeballs for broadcast and film outlets like NBC to reach in promoting their shows and other commercial content. Because YouTube has taken steps to thwart the unauthorized posting of copyrighted material, industry observers are saying the site has real potential to become a viable distribution outlet for broadcasters and studios.
Watch Closely
"TV programmers and film studios were upset because YouTube did not do much to discourage clips from their commercial properties, many of which were the most popular among YouTube users, but they are now closely watching what appears on the site," said Nitin Gupta, a Yankee Group analyst.
In fact, NBC threatened legal action against YouTube when a snippet from "Saturday Night Live" appeared on the site earlier this year.
The NBC deal follows a similar agreement between YouTube and E! Networks to promote a new online video channel called Cybersmack. In making that announcement, YouTube pledged that it would block pirated TV shows and movies, and focus on enforcing copyright.
Piracy Battle
"There's been a disconnect between content creators and distributors and technology in the past," said Ted Schadler, an analyst at Forrester Research, in a recent interview. "It would be advantageous for film and TV producers to bring digital content to consumers rather than hold back because of piracy concerns."
Yankee Group's Gupta noted that YouTube's popularity is based in large part on the freedom it offers. "People can e-mail links for clips, or put them on blogs, becoming programmers themselves, and most of the content can't be found anywhere else," he said, comparing YouTube to the digital photo-sharing site Flickr.
NBC already sells episodes of some its shows on iTunes, but this new relationship with YouTube will serve more as a promotional vehicle, at least initially, Gupta said. "Eventually, the network could find a way to make some money by selling some of its content on YouTube," he suggested.
To kick off the new partnership, NBC is offering a contest linked to "The Office" in which people can submit their own 20-second promotional videos to NBC's YouTube group. The winning clip will air during a broadcast of "The Office" in August.

The annual Portland Waterfront Blues Festival is going on this long weekend.
http://www.waterfrontbluesfest.com/performances/
There's a pretty impressive lineup as usual. This year they're featuring a lot of great New Orleans musicians. Plus there's a reunion of the main musicians from the Jim Kweskin Jug Band going back to the mid 60's. This is in honor of Portland's late, great washtub bass player Fritz Richmond. Fritz was also a recording engineer for Elektra records who worked on recordings for The Doors and Jackson Browne.

I'd like to mention a friend of mine who is from Kitchener Ontario. His name is Shannon Lyon. His music is folk influenced, a lot of acoustic guitar and harmonica. He is also an awesome songwriter and singer, and just a nice guy.

Check him out if you get a chance :D

Since this is a "anything about music" thread...........
Odie (hoping you pop in here, haha, before my links possibly get removed) Go check this guy's Ebay store out::
http://stores.ebay.com/Bruceweiart-Musi ... idZ2QQtZkm
If you go to page 2, look at the Rosewood fingerboard/key/chinrest/tailpiece set for a fiddle. I am SO gonna buy that. He seems to make a heck of alot of sales, and has a good rep. That is some gorgeous work he does. Can you imagine my fiddle with that set on it? :dancin: I'd be all sparkly looking for sure!!
And, also, dunno about the quality of the instruments..... I shouldn't comment on that, but.... you know what I mean. But, isn't this pretty looking:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Hand-Made-Mandolin- ... dZViewItem
Again, I wouldn't buy it, too much $$ for not being able to hear it first, but it sure looks awesome anyhow. And, if I were to buy one, it would have to be an F style anyhow, preferably F5 or F4. But, I just wanted you to see this one.

Those Mandolins are beautiful.
Do you use your mandible to play a mandolin?

Ummmmmmm  I dunno.
Never had my mandible pointed out to me. Isn't that a hidden private part? lmao......
Aren't they purdy though? As I said, I imagine for that price, you're paying for the purdy looks, not the quality of sound... and I'd rather have a good sound. But, hey, none of my instruments sound that great when I play them anyhow, so what's the diff? Maybe I'll bid on one, just so I atleast LOOK nice when playing. :D

I just crack-up when I hear the word fiddle-pants or was it fiddle-britches?
It has a certain ring to it.
