When I was single I actually did sing in hopes of picking up someone. Acting confident at the table but on the verge of seeming rigid, getting up to sing let them know I wasn't afraid to expose myself and my frailties.
Singing poorly actually does help, it helped me.

and than of course double the number, and the 8 of us can meet somenight. The following weekend, we double the number and the 14 of us meet, assuming we do that every weekend once a week for about a year... odd's are I still will not have "gotten any" !

I'm glad to hear that being willing to expose oneself had positve results. I'm hoping that one day I'll be able to get over the emotional scars, arrest and eventual trial and conviction that resulted from my attempt to expose myself.
Is it too much to hope for that registering as a sex offender will prove to be a good marketing ploy?

Larry Lotsa women appreciate seeing your vulnerable side. Just be more careful how you show it.

Is one of you guys available for lessons or anything? I was married for 32 years and not only life but a whole lot of other stuff seems to have passed me by during those years. You said I shouldn't be afraid to expose myself. Now I'm afraid to go out in public!
When I was single the first time a guy wasn't supposed to be vulnerable. Tears were a no no unless maybe someone ran off with your horse or your last beer. Even then it wasn't recommended. I never had a chance to become a "man of the 90's" and suddenly I need to become a "man of the 21st century". Vulnerability, sensitivity, and God forbid "getting in touch with my feminine side!"
What have those do-gooders done to men?
I still open doors, hold chairs, treat women with respect and deference, and address their Dad as Sir. I dont spit on the floor (or anywhere else for that matter), I watch my table manners and I am otherwise considerate in all ways. I notice new hairdo's and I have been known to consent to watch the Home and Garden Channel even if the Cubs were playing.
Now I find that women are calling men for dates and sometimes they even insist on paying. And now I find that the water from my tap isnt' as good as water out of somebody else's tap that's labeled "mineral water". The other night a lady(?) offered to leg wrestle me. I might have but she looked like she might have been able to take me.
I think I'm going to change my username to Anachronism.

I'll have to admit I don't know much when it really comes to impressing most women. I've been married for the last 13 years and the only woman I have to impress is my wife.
If something happened to her I wouldn't know how to impress a woman to save my life. They never found me very impressive anyway. I just show people respect the best way I can whether I think they deserve it or not.
I do have more respect for people have self discipline. Such as many I've met here. Old fashion types are the ones that show me the best I can achieve.
I'm just weird because I was genetically predisposed to being this way. It’s nobody’s fault. Just something I have to overcome on my own. I’ve tried being more upstanding and fail every time.
Part of speaking my mind is expressing who I am sometimes and I am not ashamed of the way God made. I just have to figure out how to make the best of it.

Larry Hang in there my friend....You will know you've adapted when a chic offers to buy you a Harley.....Yep, they are empowered now, so let them flex their little muscles and YOU enjoy it while it lasts....Make some rules, insist that if they work outside the home they spend their $$ on you, or they stay home and keep the house clean and the stove hot.....Count their shoes...If they have more than 3 pair they are being wasteful and vane....You will know you got it right when they insist you try on new shirts when you go shopping together.

Can I make it a 1958 Gibson ES335 instead. I'd probably fall off the Harley and hurt myself.
Weird thing about the shirts. The lady I've been dating has bought me several shirts. I would never have picked any of them in a million years. But they have turned out to be my favorite shirts. Is there a moral to that story beyond the fact that I obviously have really bad taste when it comes to pickin out my old clothes?

OK, Now I need to get my magnivision glasses ! This is a very important thread. I saw something about 50's ES-335, and women having a 7th sense for taking clothes off of men. Brb

OK, now I KNOW I've been slacking...this thread got off the first page!!!
Anyway...I seem to have become slightly domesticated lately...not much singing, and definitely no picking up...
Am I losing my edge?

Am I losing my edge? I doubt it. In my mind, the name Dave is synonymous with the word edge.
You are the edge.
