I suppose you could take a chance of just twisting wires together then putting some electrical tape over that, but there's no guarantee of a stable connection. That idea you had of snap-in pickups seems like a good idea to me as long as the contacts are really firm and stay that way after being switched out several times.
The speaker I had put in there was an EV Force 10. It technically had a high enough power capability, I got conned out of that Celestian I think. On retrospect, I really was pushing way too much volume out of a single 10 of any kind. Trying to compete with a piano, drums and loud electric guitar. I just liked the idea of not having to haul around larger speaker cabinets. Well, live and learn.

I have a third hand.... but the problem is, it's not very useful, Can't teach it to hold a soldering Iron, even type or play piano parts. I burned mine trying.

I remember Focus! That was Jan Ackerman's group in the early 70's. I used to have the album and Jan Ackerman's first solo album.

I'm going to Los Lonely Boys on my birthday at Stubb's bar-b-que in Austin. It should be really good. I've seen them now 4 times including with Willie Nelson. They have some seriously kickass guitars. Yeah baby!

Try these guys out.

I don't want to say too much but since they are a band that some will really not like at all I must leave at least a hint.
If you don't like the more upbeat music played at ren-faires, you probably won't like them.

Wow. Los Lonely Boys have four songs on Top Tunes and Sound Choice so they're no longer just local stuff. Check out "More than Love" or Heaven on Kaaza or your choice of pirate music. They have come a long way and it would be just plain hard to not like their music. In concert the guitars are some of the best I've seen.

That guy is really good! I've always been very intrigued by The Stick. It has such a wide range of strings. I know Tony Levin plays one along with his infamous 3-string bass. King Crimson uses them a lot too, not Robert Fripp, not Adrian Belew but the other guitarist whose name is obviously escaping me. I got to see Tony Levin and Robert Fripp in one of the King Crimson off shoot bands. One of my more memorable concerts for sure. Seeing the Stick being played was very interesting. I wish I had one! I probably wouldn't have the finger coordination to play the thing, but I could at least stare at it in wonderment like the monolith in 2001. LOL

The "Stick" I think comes in either 8, 10, or 12 string variety (grand). There's now an Alto stick which I believe is 10 strings, but slighter higher in pitch... The bass strings (on the Chapman stick) are the center strings interestingly enough, It's not tuned in the usual Lowest pitch to highest pitch configuration we see on most of the traditional string instruments , all ten fingers are used as they'd be used on a keyboard, they just push down the string at a given fret, not pluck, hit, or strum a string, you just push it down (like a guitorgon), it's a "hammer on" principle.. It has a Clavichord type sound to it too, yet Roland has a synth PU for it (for more money than the standard cost)..
New these sell from about 1800-2600. Depending on configuration.. They are stereo instruments I believe. stereo outputs.

If I was going to pay that now for an instrument, a Pedal Steel would be a more appealing purchase for me.

The Stick has a beautiful sound. It, in one or two ways, reminds me of a hammered dulcimer.

Yep chuck, it's the same principle as an electric dulcimer, or an electric instrument that uses the hammering, or striking of a string, to create a sound.. in this case electronically.. using the pulp portion of the finger rather than a felted hammer (such as on a piano) or different percussive device to :strike: and get a sound, beit mallet, rubber tipped, nylon/wood etc.. this just uses finger tips, and in "guitarspeak" the technique is called "Hammer on".. Interesting point. Also excellent point. Perhaps that's why it's often referred to as having a sound of a clavichord type instrument.. an electric clavicord <SP> of sorts...and synth
