The Swing, swing, swing I'm thinking of is a big band tune. I might have the wrong name for it.

I started to listen to it a minute ago and got interupted. I like the way it started off. Thanks to you it may become the next big turn-on song for me too.

It all works out in the end.

Finally got to hear that sub. I love the way it sounds and your voice has such a pleasant feel to it. That is a style of music I don't hear much but have always liked.

Chuck,

I think Swing, Swing, Swing was Benny Goodman and his orchestra. There is a famous old recording that they did at Carnegie Hall.  Recording equipment being what it was those days, they strung a mic cable (or maybe it was cables) from another building where the recording equipment was so they could record the concert. It's a classic!

Another of my favorites is just about any cut from the first album that Linda Ronstadt did with the Les Brown Orchestra.  Later in an interview she said that what she had in mind was making an album that people could "make out" to.  I can attest to the fact that it's perfect for that.

For the younger set (practically all of you) "make out" was the term your parents used for what your grand parents called "pitching woo".  I'll leave it to you to figure it out!

Larry

Well thank you! It was Ed van der Blade that requested it, and I told him I would try it at least... never really liked the result compared to my other recordings but at least I wasn't singing a bunch of sour notes LOL

I would not ask that you spend a lot of time working out a song that doesn't "grab you", but if you this one did; I would like to hear a more refined version by you some time.

...and thanks Larry. I kept finding referances to a book about Benny Goodman but not one of the pages said anything at all about whether he wrote it or not.

!x + 2 does not necessarily equal 3, but it can.

I have many songs that work for me...and yes they are metal or at least heavier rock. Not sure why, but I love the song "Truth" by Seether....or anything by them....there is just something about a guy with a lip ring.... :spin:  I'm not much into the romantic songs...I always had most of my "melting moments" with heavy rock playing in the background and thats what does it for me. I'll have to think on this more...

Fierynette- thank you for the listen - I really enjoyed it. I had to laugh
though - I thought it was a jazzy blues tune. I was surprised when it was rock.

I don't know whether Goodman wrote the song or not.  But his performance of it seems to be the benchmark for big band fans.
