I agree 100%,  That's why I'm here.  I like being around vocalists, and got tired of years and years of guitar rooms, and rock music rooms with Instant Messages such as "Hey Kappy,  Do you like Hanson ?  HaNsoN's GOD deWd!!".   What happen's is after alot of stupidity, a person often does seek out a moderated forum.. I just started getting too old to compete with 11 year old kids.

Oh GOD I so know what you mean... I love my music, but I am pretty picky. There are way too many genres to waste time on ....eeek Hanson lmao. I found irc I was getting too many random pms... yahoo OI worse... I like having online friends, but there are some requirements...like an IQ above 10 isn't too much to ask is it???

Well, I've never been to your 5th and Main.  And I wasn't sure if some guy named Bubba was going to be in charge of the transaction.  I mean if Bubba isn't in a good mood that day....  You gotta be careful these days!

Even that aside.  Taste is subjective..  If a 9 year old kid is convinced that Hansen is "better than" Jimmy Hendrix, and I challenge the kid.. I can't win, and end up looking like the bigger fool. "Better than" just breaks down to who a person likes more, unless words such as "innovator, or technician" are specified. and even that can get touchy..  Similarly, I can't win a debate taking the side that "The Turntable" isn't a musical instrument...  I debated an extremely intelligent DJ a few years back in a public debate, and I lost because few musicians want to accept a :Turn table: as being a musical instrument... Thing is just like a synth today, a playback device is still a musical instrument, just not what many think about in terms of "traditional" musical instruments..

The anwer is.  "Turn Table" is not what we consider a traditional musical instrument.. It IS a musical instrument however.  In fact it's often used as a percussion instrument today.  I still try not to accept that..LOL,  but I'm not correct.

Think about that,  pretty scary.

I used to have friends with an IQ of around 10,  and they were fabulous little friends.  I'd feed them rabbit pellet's. and hold them while they squeeked and whistled... Problem is, that like with many rodents,  Guinea pigs generally only live 6 years tops... and it's pretty tough on me when a pet dies..

Which question, bigdog ?  Sorry.. I'm jumping around here...

The original post ?   Well,  I guess some people don't think about that, strange but true.. Not all have gone thru the Internet school of stupid mistakes yet..... and some have yet to learn via hard knocks,  there are still youngsters in here that haven't had the chance to make foolish mistakes yet..  Even a few adults that likely still resubmit credit card info to the thieves... Not all have alot of internet chat area experience.. or online experience..

Hmmmmm....well I have only ever met one person online that I have chatted with, spoken to, and gotten close enough to to feel comfortable meeting one on one

But as far as a group meeting in a public place?  Well heck yeah!  I wouldn't hesitate!   :hi5:  :dancin:

As far as folks not being what they seem online...I totally agree that there are people out there who can pretend to be someone else all day long....  Why?  Who knows....seems like an awful lot of work to me to try to keep all the lies straight LOL   That's why I prefer to be honest and be myself...I'm just lazy I guess... LOL

But then I've also always been of the opinion that if folks don't like me for who I am then I don't need 'em...might sound a little harsh but I can't pretend to be someone I'm not...life's too short to live a lie :D

See,  I'm more realistic,  or of the opinion,
"If folk's appear to like me for who I am, they are likely going to kill me, or they need someone to stiff with the bill"

Good Point, Bigdog. I agree. Fortunately, it will become clear that I don't have any interest in baiting people.

I may be being just a little serious here but sometimes I do like to make a point.

LMAO you got some self confidence problems there Steven? Some COULD conceivably just like ya you know. You seem to be intelligent and you are considerate enough to be posting warnings on a forum about meeting people from the net....2 points right there. Oh! and you don't like Hanson. Make that 3!  :dancin:

Well,  that's not exactly true.  For all I know, these kids are much better musicians now than I am..

Sadly though, they wound-up selling out at such a young age. Thus, stifling their own creative energies only to allow for what the producer deems as "marketable".
