There are some very good points being made about who we are and if we are who we say we are.

What if you meet someone from this forum but decide to get together on a one on one basis...

What if they turn out to be a lie? It could be that they are not even the sex that they claim to be let alone as attractive, charming, fun, social, presentable, etc. as they seem to be online.

If you meet a person from here, what wil you do?

I have already promised Knightshow that if I get up into his neck of the woods I was gonna take him out for a big steak dinner.  His assistance to me on any number of topics has been invaluable, and he is a large part of the reason that I was able to smoothly make the transition to a computer based system.

Keith, what's it like riding a horse in a dress?  Are both of you in dresses?  Just curious.   LOL

I have a feeling we'd discover that KS people aren't that much different from other
people we already know.  I don't think people are misrepresenting themselves much around here.  If we discover they are, report them to the proper authorities.  LOL

It's rare to see a horse wearing a dress....It tends to spook them....so we usually just toss a pair of thongs on them LMAO

...I sure hope you don't plan on slipping thongs on just any horse!......You need to be careful or you could get hurt....Many horses are rather determined to remain gender oriented. LMAO

People get married,  some have been married for years, THEY find out their spouse has been having secretive affairs with several others in real, on ocassion you hear about men having multiple lives with a few wives. They also have other kids...

"What if" a spouse is having affairs we don't know about ?  What if we know a neighbor is having affairs, and we also know that this individual's spouse thinks they are quite loyal, and away times they aren't, etc ?  I grew  up with this going on constantly around me.  It was musical beds in my neighborhood in the late 60's, early 1970's... Parent's of friends would be in their bedroom with the door closed with a "friend" of the opposite sex. This going on while the kids are home, Kid's often didn't know about it... They didn't want to believe it..

"What if" happens ALOT even in real life.  A spouse or mate isn't who we believe them to be.. Relationships are tough. *THIS* is the reason I don't romantically fall for people I really don't know...because often times we find those we THINK we know in real, are stranger's leading other lives on the side..

Why complicate things more.  This is my point Chuck !  Fantasy and what's really going on are seldom the same...

LMAO well I am only close to 2 people from SS, and I am pretty sure Ed van der Blade is male... we talk on the phone, so it would be less likely he's a chick (awww damn now you got me worried he's using a voice changer!) Nah but seriously if I met him it would require a 7 hour flight and a lot of money so there is no hurry at the moment. I have met many people from the net, and I have found they usually are just how I thought they would be. I am always prepared for the worst though cause you never do know.

Odds are, if I met anyone from here, first thing I would do is buy them a beer.
But not having been here for very long, I've still noticed that there are those folks, who no matter what you say, all they have are rude, negative sarcastic comments. They would first get a punch in the face, with a "for someone who thinks they know it all, bet you didn't know that was coming" THEN I'd offer to buy them a beer....LOL
I don't hold grudges, and they've never said anything to me personally in any of my threads, but I hate little pissants who hide behind computer screens and dog people every chance they get. It just shows a lack of respect, bad manners and low IQ.
No matter what board you go to, there's always going to be a few who soil it for the rest. But hey that's just me.  If you want to know where I'm coming from, just read my signatures.

If you meet a person from here, what wil you do?

Again, you hear ALOT of this type lovely event on America Online  :( ... Mr Stud invites girl to his estate, and it turns out drunken jackass who invites girl doesn't have license, or estate.. But this foolish guy with little dignity show's up at airport with Mom driving him.. He stinks of alcohol, and has no license because of DUI infractions.  He lives in an apt with his mother (Don't worry Mr. October, I'm not telling anyone it's you I'm referring to  LOL ) This actually happened in an AOL room I frequented, and while the guy ended up a laughing stock, the girl was pretty upset with herself for her own foolishness.  At least this is the lesser of stories you hear about in terms of horrific events transpiring..

Alot has to do with WHY are you meeting a person, how well do you know this person ?  Have you spoken on the phone ?  Do you have common friends who know you both that you trust ?  It's fine to have friends, but at least KNOW the people for some time, at least make sure you've spoken on the phone and have a clue who the person is, but if it's just for sex.... Who knows what skeletons exist in someones closet,  you couldn't know...
Another point.  I think it'd be ludicrous for a female to travel any distance to an area she's not familiar with, with NO safety-net, contact person (who know's what's going on), or just a good alternative plan in a mapped out area WITHOUT having spoken to the male quite a few times on the phone.. I wouldn't invest energy to travel to meet anyone 1 on 1 I didn't already have at least a strong phone rapport with..  Women have gotten hurt taking foolish chances meeting males they thought they knew, this is what I mean by using common sense,  while odd's are always slim, sick stuff has happened, women have gotten raped and killed,  there are serial rapists out there that use the internet to prey and lure victims.. Having a callback number, and info so she's at least quite sure of the person's gender will at least give her a decent idea the woman's a woman, man's a man, etc...  If she suspects it might be for a physical fling, and there's little friendship there.  HELL YEAH,  she's taking a risk,  yet so is a guy today... It's an adults responsibility to have some element of common sense, and sage,  just enough perspicacity to not be pulling a trigger playing Russian Roulette each time she visit's someone...

Yep, this is a disgusting post, I know... But sick stuff has happened,  As adults it's our responsibility to at least have enough common sense to minimize taking stupid risks

True, but see I have a lot of friends in England... and I would be staying with my girlfriend in York whom I actually know in person... I spent 2 months there awhile back. I have about a half dozen friends all in the same area... all I know in person and would keep me safe. I am not saying I would just fly willy nilly over to England, only that he would probably be the only person I would actually make an effort to meet from here aside from Drea (vettelady) (thus far anyway).     :D

Yeah,  I'm not saying a person should live waiting for an asteroid to fall from the sky and hit them on the head... People just need to use some common sense when people really don't know someone else well, assuming they are in the process of meeting them...  That's all... Especially people who get together 1:1 after knowing one-another about 4 days from a "Special Interest"  or  "Romance" room, yep,  dumb stuff happens ALL the time online..
