Well, my Shure LX wireless microphone has finally past away after 8 great years. Now in need a new wireless mic. Im looking for a smooth sounding mic (not tiny) that will be able to hold up and offer a great sound. Do any of you have a suggestion on a quality wireless that meets these qualities but wont break the bank. Thanks

Your say passed away.  Is it not repairable?

The case is cracked and the screw on base that holds the battery has to be taped closed. There is a connection problem at the base where the battery is connected anytime you move the mic it pops in and out. You can see the light indicators flickering.

Go to the shure web site.  If that is all that is wrong, you can probably get it fixed for much less than a new mic of lesser quality.  I had a case crack on one once.  Sent it in and it cost me $25.00.  It's worth a shot to call them and see what it might be.

Shure has a replacement policy, but I don't know if yours will be covered.   They might not make that model anymore.   But they still may have parts for it.

Mr. October, I was looking at that one as well. A sales person a guitar center recommended that one saying AKG is a good sounding mic. Thanks, let me know how it sounds.  :D

If you want to be sure it will work without drop outs or dead spots, you need to have a two channel receiver.    I believe its call diversity.    The one antenna is a single channel receiver.     Two antennas and it can instantaneously switch to the other channel to eliminate the dead spot thing.

Has anyone had any experience with the Sennheiser EW135 G2? Is it a durable good quality mic?

Micbob, sshhhh.....don't ever tell anybody it was an $800 mike, they will want to kill you.   Take it from me.     LMAO    Telll them it's $50.   They will love you forever.

It looks like a fine mike to be throwing across the bar.         You will have to test the balance of it, like one of those knifes the circus guys throw.   :hi5:

Difficult time trying to decipher your opinion, but from what I gather you feel its too much money to spend on a mic that will be used for Karaoke.

I personally feel that is too much for a karaoke mic in a drunk bar environment, but if you have the cash to spend - go for it.  Sennheiser make a decent mic, Shure is my overall choice.

This is the one I use - like you, for big contests only, not for regular singing.  It sounds great, true diversity & won't break the bank.

I was joking about people that don't take care of our equipment.    Meaning some people like to throw and drop our stuff.    So if the mike had good balance they could throw them the whole way across the bar.   LMAO    Sennheiser has a very good reputation, around a long time .

hey that mike looks familiar. I just got a dual mike hisonic unit that except for the hisonic name the mikes themselves look excatly like your sure mike. The receiver looks different though.

Remember many companies do make cheap clones of quality equipment, there are several mics that look identitcal to the SM58.
