i got my nickname because years ago i had 3 pet rats (lucky cappacin, squeaky vermicelli, and neil parmesan)...my original name was ratboi for years...then i grew up and realized ratboi@ wherever didn't look too good on a resume.
Fast forward, i met isis.  we joked about being phat. she likes my rat story...so the rest they say is history

phatrat out

Regarding the legpress, its not like I jumped on there said ok I'm going to do this...I built up to this over a very long period of time...I stayed about half that weight for a long time, but wanted to start lifting more, when I was ready I'd go up either reps or weight till there were 550lbs in plates on that thing - it took me about a year to work up from 275lbs which was very comfortable for me, to 550 lbs - so because of the gradual way I approached it, it was pretty safe.

I still don't believe you can leg press 10 reps of 550 lbs.   I'm not talking 45 degree incline sled-leg press where slight adjustments can make a tremendous difference.  I'm talking parallel leg press with 550 lbs of weight,  back properly against the bench. and pushing with your leg's elevating 550 lbs of weight 10 times. Actual  gravity working on that weight...  Not the universal type cable systems where once you move at an incline a foot, it get's easier....  That's not true weight.

One leg press of 1335 lbs shot the capillaries in the eye's of a FLorida state Football player, and did some other damage.  Ten reps of that type TRUE weight ?  A barbell with 275 lbs of Iron on each side..... elevated in parallel positioning to full extension 10 times !

You're right it was a 45 degree legpress so its not as extreme as a vertical would be. However I'm also not counting the weight of the sled which is roughly 100 lbs. A 45 degree is much easier that a vertical and no I couldn't do it..........yet LOL. To be honest the vertical would scare me - you could completely destroy yourself and I wouldn't even want to try. With the 45 though I did do full reps, not partials, and yes most of the guys stood there with their mouths hanging open when I did it - on more than one occasion. And yes it was still heavy as hell!! A cheater way of lifting maybe, but its still a lot of weight and the only sled available around here. The sled they had prior to this one looked like they picked it up at a prison close-out...it was ancient and all beat up, but you could do hack squats with it too. I wasn't lifting near as heavy back in those days though so don't know what my capabilities would have been.

Yes,  true lifting considering gravity is VERY VERY scary !!!    I won't bench without someone VERY capable spotting me,  I'm scared ^&#(%&# of crushing my chest....and that's with relatively little weight.... It's the end of those reps when you are pushing yourself, that being able to reach back up to place the weight back on the rack becomes impossible sometimes   :(

Here's what I was thinking.   I did try to leg press once a Steinway "S' series baby grand piano  550 lbs.....  I used to move piano's....  NO WAY could I lift that thing let alone extend my legs with that type weight even ONCE given all aspects of gravity working...  I did quite well in the old days of "Universal weights", but leg pressing ?  Nah,  I was an embarassment when it came to that... Could never do even 300 partially universal... LOL   and unfortuneately EVEN that isn't honest weight.....  Two months ago,  I had to get my Hammond B-3 on Casters... Also wanted to move an entertainment unit with a large Sony TV... (Sony's have lead enclosed picture tubes and are very heavy).. tried using legs just to angle 375-400 lbs... Couldn't do it .. that's angling that weight with part of it still touching the ground,  just to get casters under it...LOL

YEt bigdog is absolutely correct,  women relative to body size and strength (I think) do have VERY strong legs much of the time.... Figure Skaters,  Classic Ballet dancers.... VERY strong legs

I do wonder what you could "genuinely" leg press however.   What the conversion would be 45 degree sled translated to free weight parallel leg press.   Roughly what the conversion would be..  Yes,  alot of the weight systems used ARE in fact cheating.  First question when people used to give rediculously huge weight lifting figure's and reps with such figures was  "Free weight" or "Track-type system"

Yet one thing I'm certain of,  in terms of either,  you can likely out-lift what I could do by ALOT..  I have a tough time leg pressing my stomach up out've the computer chair...

Also, we will need pictures, lots of pictures. Be sure to get close-ups of the legs. :dancin:

I'm hoping she has a tatt on the small of her back and wears low rider jeans and thongs and short skirts with heels. :worship:

Nah, I'm most likely not you're type of gal at all. You look like a nice, well bred type of guy. You need a girl who wears dresses, and drives a Hyundai... and would never pick up a maul for fear of breaking a nail.  And somehow, from what I can tell of Sinnamon..... I think me and her might be alot alike actually. So maybe.... you better hope we don't ever show up.

I'm cut to the quick!  Appearances to the contrary I am NOT a nice, well bred type of guy and I resent your nasty insinuation.  Well . . . okay, I am too and I don't really resent your comments because you're right.  I've tried to overcome it, I really have.  I once tried to kick a dog but I missed.  I was going to cheat on my girlfriend but I never got around to it.  During the Viet Nam era I burned my draft card only to find out that I had been confused and had burned my library card instead.

Let's face it, it ain't easy being a clean cut, All American guy.  I do have my rebellious side, though.  Sometimes I don't shine my shoes every week.  And I did lie to a 7th Day Adventist and tell him I was an athiest.  So don't go thinking I'm Mr. Goody Two Shoes.

So maybe you and Sinnamon ought to show up after all.  I ain't scared . . . yet!

Larry

Ok I wanna get in on this stuff LOL I got the long nails, sometimes wear dresses but can legpress 550 lbs for 10 full reps!! However I don't own a splitting maul  :(  this does give me a goal to aspire to!!

On to the Tshirts...my absolute favorite that I own says "Keep Staring...I Might Do A Trick" and also "If I Throw A Stick Will You Leave" LMAO.

Ok this is driving me crazy...how do you post the quote where it says "(name here) @ Mon June 19 (time) wrote:" I feel like a complete dumba$$ here, but no matter what I have tried, it doesn't work. I'd appreciate any help before I go totally nuts - thank you LOL
If you're substituting the leg press for a splitting maul... well, I could do without the maul.
