I dunno Kappy....I kinda worry about you.
I'm thinking there is a whole new Kappy just waiting to bust out and act bi-polar.
Acting bi-polar can be lots of fun!...Just do it in a distant place where no one knows you. ..when was the last time you got stupid and took risks?...I'm not talking bout crossing the street with your eyes closed, I'm talking getting really spun up and screaming 'Yehaw! I'm still alive' afterwards.

Isn't that one of the songs in the Show "Carousel" ? "Kappies busting out BiPolar" ?

It's that obvious I never do ? Even my shrink tells me I should let my hair down on occassion and not worry about doing life "correctly". I told him "I'm afraid I'll end up in jail or locked up", but in a way, I suppose that wouldn't be much worse, would it be ? Only problem is, how would I access this place if I were incarcerated ?

Without doing anything differently, just being my regular inanely yacking self, and not trying for any target times, this is looking very close Sharon ! However wouldn't that be Tuesday June 20th 3 am ???? Doubt you could win with Wednesday June 20th 3 am

Hey Mikey !
If I wanted to purchase an LP today, that's exactly what I'd do. (Epi Custom or Standard LP, Similarly I'd not pay for a lesser Gibson SG line (non-Custom, standard, classic SG), or import Gibson make SG (which many today are), I'd opt instead for the Epi G-400 and add aftermarket Seymour Duncan Classic neck, and JB Bridge PU's (assuming there's not enough output on epi's stock pu's at a given time period). I wouldn't pay Gibson's price today for a Standard or Custom model. The models Gibson has out for under $700 according to many (and what I personally found when playing certain firebrand, less costly stripped Les Pauls) is that you aren't getting the sustain and tone of the heavier LP.... they give lesser of the LP sound because often times these are imported "Firebrand" type stripped down model's today anyway, Gibson even started making MANY models abroad with the Gibson Headstock, (not Epi), often with the Chromyte chamber's too... Not actual Les Pauls.. Just marketed with that same name.. Very likely costly Samicks !
Today I'd pruchase either an Epi LP, Electra/Westone LP (Lawsuit model era which costs plenty and believe it or not, I played an Electra active model in 1974, it sounded BETTER than many Gibson LP's I've played... Electra's were a nice imported guitar), and I don't know much about Tokai guitars but I'm trying to read about some of the nicer import lines.
There's an awful lot of BS you'll read on the internet regarding Gibson Les Paul vs, Epiphone Les Paul "Shoot outs", most that write the reviews don't have their facts straight. One person said that Gibson uses a one piece body, and that's what gives it such sustain.... Gibson DOES NOT make the Customs or Standards with a "one piece body", They use Mahogany and Maple Laminates, and the body is SEVERAL pieces of wood... The tops aren't the same mohogany wood on the bound models. Almost ALL Gibsons are Laminated... Most guitars are...Just different woods, and binding processes. I've even read that Gibson uses better "metals" HAHAHAHAHA, the Gold electroplated finish on the bridge of my Custom Gibson started peeling off within 2 years of my purchasing the guitar new... The Epiphone better lines of LP are excellent guitars, some just add aftermarket PU's...
Most don't consider that Norlin Gibson's (late 70's to early 80's) shortly after Gibson left Kalamazoo and manufactured guitars in it's Norlin plant were NOT very good Gibson's... MOST epiphones made are/were better than that line of production Gibson... Not all Gibson guitars are "great", not all Fender guitars made are "great". people are confused.... There's more to a guitar than the "name" on the Headstock, but Epiphone is a fine name.... Nice guitar
If there's any topic that'll bring me over 5K post count in a heartbeat, it's this type topic LOL
ADDED IN:
I think Gibson higher end guitars DO however use better Pickups, than lower-line Epi's... but big deal, people mod and UG adding their own choice of aftermarket PU, without having to worry about depreciating "Stock" value..

In any line of manufactured goods..... Companies just LOVE name snobs !!!!
Clothing stores caught on, and sold the identical garment imported, with the (MADE IN USA) label, MOST people back then didn't buy the product out've loyalty to their own country, they were emphatic that if it's made in the United States, it's made better.. The problem with items that WERE in fact made better here in the States, was this type exploitation, and over time people felt hoodwinked... Imported sweater 15 dollars, Made in USA label the retail outfit Charged 3X as much, and got it.. (This is when I managed a Men's dept at a clothing store that had smaller satellite designer stores) D&L had Sandpiper and Weathervane here in the East. (The label on the sweater WAS made in the USA)
This is an advantage the more technical folks such as Lonman, Karyoker, etc have.
They can look under the hood (so to speak) and determine wiring, solder joints, componentry, etc.. and see for themselves if certain imports, really are lesser in quality than other domestic brands, and HOW much of a difference certain variances actually make
