Uh....... I was actually thinking of flipping him some money to do it, and let him know there's no promise on head count. I'd agree to pay for our own private keg, but heck.... everybody would fight over the beer brand. LOL ..... And, Lonnie would drink it all anyhow. And, I know where your loyalty lies. But, just cause it's my local hangout, and the fact that I know & like the KJ's.... is not enough to keep me there. Criminy, Paul wont give.. so why should I keep giving him my beer (uh- vodka, haha) money? And what may I ask was wrong with that last dance song? IMO it was a fun way to end the evening. I thought you left before that even started... you were gone when it was over. Any-who, we'll have to see about stuff as far as where we go. Heck, if it's only a few people extra, it might be just fine at Denny's. I'm sure we'll all be laughing and talking most of the night anyhow, not thinking of dancing.
OK, spring for my Rum and I'll be happy! PJ played that same song and a couple other dance songs in the middle of a set. People were still waiting to sing.
Did you hear the four letter words tossed into that song. I thought I was in Southeast Portland or something. Oh well! Paul needs to make improvements for sure. He is a cheap skate. I guess I'm not as bothered by it all. The air has improved. Well, we'll check with the Spinning Wheel and see what's up there.!

Canby Oregon...That's where Charmin and Odie and some others are...Denny's I believe...
I find it amazing that you know that without having ever driven there before, Sharon ! You seem to have alot of knowledge about the town already.

Quote: The owner there... is currently hungry for whatever crowd he can get to bring in a bit of $$. I'm pretty sure with what we'd all spend on drinks, he'd be willing if he wasn't booked. Guess we'll have to see. Besides, I'm going to bring most of the crowd I know too... Try to get them all rounded up for one night. (not at Denny's though, if we go there...) That place just gets on my nerves, and to me- is a bit of an embarassing spot to take people who come all that way for a night of karaoke. They need to revamp that place.
Have you seen the final plan for Mikes Pub and Saloon after it revamps to add it's deck for smokers ? The plans were approved by Canby Building & Zoning last week ! This place is going to be Jamming ! Treat your friends to an evening at Mikes ! Why go thru the embarrassment of Denny's ?

Now that's not funny! I know Mike. He stole and sold his Mom's 100 year old silverware set and his Dad's truck to get his place lookin' spiffy! Also my Dad's old dental office is a couple blocks away. The guy that took it over can use the business so have some cavities filled while you're here!

Steven ~ You must have received this psychic impulse from a faulty source. Melody did not live long enough to become mayor. She died in the first great biohazard war of 2049. No not really, I just made THAT part up. Nothing bad ever happens in Canby!

That still gives her 43 more years of life Don. I just cited 2053 as the speculated year that all five students currently enrolled in Canby High School will have finished with their final senior year.

I'm just kidding, you folks know this of course !
But if you are planning on having a few guest's from this site up there in a few months, Shouldn't you start to prepare Town Hall for the population boom ?

Don, Is Canby considered Suburban, or rural ? I really don't know the difference in the two terms, but are most that live in Canby within close drive to grocery stores, plaza's, theatre's, banks, etc ?
I was speaking with a friend awhile back who had to drive 20 miles to the closest store, there was a gas station closer, (about 12 miles), I've never lived in, or even drove thru an area that rural. Quite honestly, I've never been to an area where you can't see your closest neighbor because they are over a mile away.... That's just a totally different life-style to me. Nothing I've even seen in real (believe it or not), never even drove thru it ! Driveways 1 mile long aren't anything I can imagine.

The population is actually up to around 14,000. For the infrastructure here, it's already enough of a boom. We've got lousy traffic flow and a railroad track that divides the city in half. We've got four Chinese restaurants, one Thai place, three pizza places, four Mexican restaurants, two karaoke places, three major chain grocery stores, McDonalds, Wendy's, Burgerville, Dairy Queen, almost a Carl's Jr., 3 Union 76's, 1 Chevron, 1 Texaco, 2 independents, Denny's, 7-11, 4 pharmacies, about a dozen or so doctors and dentists, but not one good music store!

There's not one music store within 25 minutes of me Don. Most of the smaller local stores have closed down.. They can't compete with the larger mail order stores of today. People don't support their local merchants like they'd need to in order for the smaller mom and Pop retailer to survive the "online shopping" craze where folks want to pay lowest retail, avoid paying tax, and have the item shipped to their door. The internet is killing small specialty shops... GOOD music stores carrying high-end gear would just sit on their inventory, smaller stores of this type can't afford their overhead around here, nothing moves.. besides school rental instruments and repairs, noone buy's anymore, believe me, if they did, THAT'S what I'd be doing now... The music stores I worked at in the 80's around here, are all gone. The internet era is killing mom and pop small retailers. How can they compete with AMS, MF, Sam Ash, Guitar Center, etc ?

Well, suburban but if you go very far out in any direction it's rural. Hard to explain.
There's lots of new housing, apartments and even industrial buildings coming in.
Interstate 5 is about 8-10 miles West. Hwy. 99-E runs straight through the town.

Exactly the same situation here. The smaller independently owned stores of all kinds are struggling. A big Guitar Center did come in about 12 miles away from Canby. There's a couple small music stores in other towns near Canby.
