no vocals,
No problem. They are quite a bit north of me as I'm in the Milwaukee area. Anyway, I've got enough problems with the gentler gender here in my own backyard. No need to search for trouble somewhere else.

Crazy as in ? Nothing wrong with meeting a woman on the same wavelength !
It's ashame that the guys in Oneida, Appleton, and Owen have to wait so long for the women to come to their senses ! 40 is getting up there.

What I'm really looking for in life is a woman who sings in order to pick me up! Why should I have to do ALL the work? Aside from the nice ego boost it would be a signal that this was a lady who could at least make up her mind about one thing. In my experience that would be a refreshing change.
Maybe it's not women in general. And maybe it's not just women in Oneida, Appleton and Owen. Maybe it's Wisconsin women in particular. It could have something to do with the air or water.
One of my daughter's went to college in Appleton. Come to think of it, she hasn't been quite right since. I'd noticed it before but up until now I always blamed in on the fact that we lived in Sheboygan for three years when she was little.

Same problems here in Connecticut. We MUST have similar atmospheric conditions !
For awhile I thought it had something to do with living within close proximity of the Hudson River, because NJ and NY share the same probs !

Quote: What do I do if she turns out to be 5'1", 425 lb, owns a Ford F-250 with a gun rack (that's full), and wrassles grizzly bears for sport?
This can be problematic ! While I've always had the tendency to be somewhat of a submissive male, this isn't my idea of the ideal assertive woman either. Seem's we have alot in common, now if she owned a Chevy, she'd be perfect !!!

HOLY COW, what a super long thread. I haven't had a chance yet to read through the whole thing, so I'm sure that what I'm gonna say has already been said or tried, but anyways, here goes.
The town where I live in, is your typical southern two redlight town. Not a great place to meet single women, and some of the women you meet are kinda scary to say the least.
So doing Karaoke has been great for my social life. Most of the women are from out of town(in other words, they don't know me or have heard anything about me) and a good part of them are pretty well off.
So I'm usually just sittin at the bar during a break and I'll strike up a conversation, which usually leads in to them asking what's going on tonight, that this is their first time there. I tell them, that the bar usually has live entertainment, that in fact tonight just happens to be Karaoke night. I never tell them in advance that I'm the guy doing it, I just kinda sit back and let them do all the talking. When it comes time for me to go back up to the stage, I politely excuse myself, asking if they're going to be around for a while. When they say yes, I usually say in a joking manner, 'Hey maybe I'll get up and sing a song for you' which of course makes them smile and giggle.
But the best part of it is, it's usually the other guys that help out the most. They'll be sitting there and ask her, 'Is Jimmy gonna sing a song for you?' and she'll be like, yeah why? and they just smile and most of the time, go back to drinking their beer.
Well by now, the gal has really gotten her curiosity up and is looking around to see where I've gone to. By that time, I'm back up on stage with a song cued up and dedicating it to her. I do my thing, go through the next set of rotation, and 9 out of 10 times during the set, I'll turn around and there she'll be standing with a huge grin on her face, with the comment, 'I didn't know you could sing' and of course in the back of my mind I'm thinking, well of course not, we just met, so how would you know. But netherless, I take it all in. And just so you know, that even though I may sound like I'm bragging, if you knew me in person, you would realize how low key and shy I am sometimes around certain women. So doing Karaoke has allowed me to express myself, in a somewhat more confident manner than just trying to keep up the usual bar chatter.
So how did things turn out you may ask, well I'll keep that between me and the young lady. I'm not really a kiss and tell kinda guy, and I'm not into the locker room talk at all. Let's just say I smile alot when I'm at work.
Now I'm not saying that this silly way of doing things works all the time, but it has it's moments. But anyways, just thought that since the subject came up and the thread has been active for 60+ pages, that I'd toss in my little story.
So do I do Karaoke for the hopes of picking someone up? NO.......but it sure helps
James

Hmmm . . . interesting story. It doesn't sound as if my town is as small as yours but I can identify with the shortage of unattached women problem. The places I play are generally frequented by people over 40. In most cases the ladies are either married or they come in with someone. It's not to often that an unmarried woman walks in alone.
Oddly enough I first saw the lady I've been dating one night when she and her ex-boyfriend came into the place I was playing. For 2 years she never came into the place alone once. So we didn't actually meet until she decided to dump him so she could meet me. This is not my idea of the best way to start a relationship. A lot can happen over that 2 year span. Of course, dragging your current boyfriend to a bar so you can hear the guy you've decided will be your next boyfriend play is not exactly the most normal behavior I've ever seen.

At the club that GG, Isis, HatRack, Squirmin' Squid and I often go to the singers are usually half and half. There are also a lot of single women there that are not even singing but like to hear the singers.
I hope I didn't mess-up anybody's names in this post. I've been on a grueling event and am quite the exhausted boy.

We go to the same karaoke club that we started going to 14 years ago. Even if I'm alone they all know I'm married so I don't get any hits, or else they just aren't interested.
I'll bet it's the second one. It's cool that way because I never have to rely on my moral character which is questionable at best.

Maybe you deserve two of everything. Now you just need to find two ladies who agree with that.
