The Super Core disc, Knightshow linked to looks pretty good selection wise.   I am not familiar with their sound quality.    It is pretty up to date though.    If they have other sets for that price, you could get 1000 songs for your money.

Again just my opinion.
I don't agree with this.

I've heard a lot of pop and rock stuff from Chartbuster, and I'd rather have some of the nutech or backstage! Yes, even SGB over Chartbuster pop!

Okay, I got the Soundcore pak today, and I'm just gonna give my honest opinion on it.
In a scale of 1 to 10, I'd have to give it a 5, good selection of tunes, but some of the production is basement band quality. In fact when I first started listening to the discs, I was really dissapointed, but some of it kinda grew on me after awhile. My final thoughts are, this may be a good starter kit, but I have to agree with most on this post, that you may want to save your pennies and invest in something with a bit more quality. I mean  there is truth that you get what you pay for, and considering that it only cost me 60 bucks for 356 tunes, it's a heck of a deal price wisewise, but in the near future, I can only see these disc as being fillers until I can afford something better to replace them with.

You've got to be kidding, Nutech and Backstage are the lowest of the low. If they didn't have songs unavailable elsewhere, I would never touch either brand.
Chartbuster is much better in my opinion than those two brands combined.
Loser by 3 doors down rocks on the chartbuster series.

No disc company gets all of the renditions right.    Some songs are just better from company to company.    I have discs from many different companies.   All of them have a "best version" of some songs, over the others.    You would have to play the songs side-by-side to truely tell.    No in all cases though.    Some versions you can tell they suck from a mile away.    Most of the bad companies went under.    I hate the ones that sound like midi crap.    I would never buy any of those.     I like the version that comes as close to what you hear on the radio.   That is how I judge good vs bad versions.   Radio version is what everyone relates it to.   99 % of the time, it's the only one they have ever heard.    Let that be your judging point.    How close is it to the radio?

One of the two reasons I don't like nutech is that They are recorded at such a low volume level that one has to set the music at the highest level and lower the mikes to minimum just so the vocals doesn't overpower the music.
The other reason is that Nutech's intrumentation is all midi.  Friend of mine knew the guys making them and told me that it was all midi based except for the backing vocals.

I agree with this, however Sound Choice does have a better hit over miss ratio as compared to SGB or Chartbuster (pop/rock).  If you were to buy a disc strictly by the odds, SC would be my first choice the majority of the time.

Not kidding at all. I have tried 9 chartbuster discs, and hate all of them...

Just like the SGB discs, there are some gems in the Nutech discs. They were NOT all midi created. Maybe only the ones you've heard... but I have some that Nutech made that were real studio musician made with real instruments.

The KJTools discs... Nutech.

Again, I wouldn't carry a show with them.

Also, I have no problems with the sound adjustment on the nutech stuff. A little low, but nowhere do I have to adjust it so bad lie you're talkin' about. They're the same level as the Pioneer cdg and lasers (not the reissues... those are akin to the SC sound levels)

Different strokes I guess.

True, several of the early discs were actually direct music rip offs from other companies and recreated with their own graphics & videos.  They were sued years ago for that, if you listen carefully, some Sound Choice music tracks are actually in their selection - not sure if they still are to this date, but they were in the early 90's.
