Hi,

I've been around here for a few days but never got around to introducing myself.

I'm Larry a Nebraska farmboy transplanted to the big city around a half a lifetime ago.

I've been singing since I can remember.  As soon as I could play more than 3 chords on my guitar I started my first band (when I was in college) and I've never looked back.  Like most band junkies I've been in more bands than I can remember.  Many of them never got out of the garage.

I've played rock & roll (50s thru 70s), country, and was a folk singer for a lot of years.  My primary instrument is guitar but I also play bass and keyboards.  At one time or another I've played some or all of those instruments in various bands and groups I've been in.

I've been really fortunate.  I have always managed to work with people who where a lot more talented and experienced than I am and all of them have been generous enough to pass along as much of their knowledge as I was able to absorb.  Along the way I've had a lot of fun, experiences I would repeat in an instant if I could and I've met tons of terrific people.

Currently I sing and play guitar in a duo called Looking Back.  My partner sings and plays bass and we use karaoke songs for our "band".  We've got a great manager who has done an extraordinary job of keeping us busy—most of the time we play at least one night per weekend.

I'm pretty new to the karaoke scene.  A few months ago a friend of mine and I did our first karaoke show—mostly to see if we could do it and partly to see whether we thought we might want to do it again.  We had fun and now we're looking to do some more shows if we have the opportunity.

This forum interested me because it looked like a pretty friendly place where I could do what I've been doing all my career; learn from people more experienced, knowledgeable and talented than I am.

I'm looking forward to it.

Larry

I must confess to being a little disconcerted upon hearing that.  I have always operated under the assumption that I'm the only one.  Knowing there might be others out there like me may give me bad dreams.  I'm sure it's going to bother the homeland security people too!

Ain't it great!?  hehehehe!  Just remember...When the people come, don't call where they're taking you "the land of the magic white jackets". It makes them drive faster. 8)
