I have an Alesis multimix 8fx mixer running into the tape (mono) input of one of those older Peavey XM-4 mixer/amps (usually used as a guitar mixer/amp).  This may be a dumb question, but that's why I'm here  LOL .  Can I connect the 1/4" left and right outputs from the Alesis mixer into 2 of the 1/4" microphone inputs of the Peavey mixer/amp or will that damage the equipment?
Also does anyone out there have any idea what type of reverb is built into these old Peavey Xm-4 guitar mixer/amps?  Thanks in advance!

I don't know if what you are doing will work or not, but there is the manual for the xm-4 that was easily found on the PPeavey website....

Also you may want to check out the PEavey forums if you don't get an answer here....

It will work if you are careful (don't overdrive the inputs on the Peavey), but like stated in previous posts you made (I believe), you would be better off NOT using the Peavey mixer part but using it strictly as an amp & using the Alesis as the mixer only.
The Peavey is using a simple spring reverb - one of the oldest & VERY analog type of effect.  It's basically sending a audio signal through a spring - literally.

Thank you, Lonman!  I am using the Alesis as the main mixer.   I have the Alesis running ino the 1/4" tape input of the Peavey which is mono, so I was wondering if I would get a better sound by running the left and right outputs of the Alesis into 2 of the mic inputs of the Peavey.  I don't think it would give me a true stereo sound, but was wondering if the sound might be better.  If it's not going to have any effect on the sound, however, there's no point in taking the risk.  I eventually need to get rid of the Peavey amp and buy a good power amp.  I also want to replace the Alesis mixer with a Mackie DFX-6 mixer.  I can sell the Alesis mixer on ebay for about the same price that I can buy a Mackie DFX-6 mixer.  I'm working on it!  I do have a BBE Maximizer and a Lexicon MPX-110 in my setup so when I get around to replacing those 2 items I think I should have a pretty decent small home setup, right? LOL That was sort of a question.
