Don't we all do this by ourselves? I may help someone I may be training. Or, we may have a significant other help us collect books, but for the most part, it is part of our job. I agree, the ones that do it all are darn good people.

When I ran a show, I preferred sing one, bring one, but it seems to me it depends on the layout of your booth--if you don't have room for a stack of more than one rotation, don't bother trying.
The club I usually sing at keeps song slips, and every time we go in, we just grab the ones in our sleeve in the book, so we get the advantage of a prepared "list" and still abide by the sing one, bring one rule. Saves paper, save a hassle, and since we only recently resurfaced a regulars, it flattered the heck out of us to find out we had a spot in the book!

profanity- depends on the show
In the bar - Songs here or there that have swear words no big deal.
But there is no reason to swear if it isn't in the song. I give a warning first.
The second time I tell them if it isn't in the song there is no swearing and they
will be ask to not sing if it continues. I really don't have a problem with this, so after the first warning it usually never happens again. I feel it is a respect thing. If they respect me they won't do it again. Usually people will appologize after I say something.
Weddings, anniversaries etc... - if someones picks an inappropriate song I just ask them to pick another one. It's never been a problem. Knock on wood LMAO

I allow multiple song slips but agree that sometimes it causes a problem with a regular because someone sang "Their Song" that was like 4 or 5 slips down in their stack. I just look at em' and say....not my problem you should have put it up as your first song. :O
I have never understood the "my song" mentality....I swear sometimes people act like they are in 1st grade sometimes. LMAO
Babs - When it gets windy I have a little box of like 30 metal clips (you know the black ones) that I clip to the song slips to weight them down. They work great. I use to have a cork board but current setups do not allow me to use them as I have limited space.

Flipper thank you -
I think the cork board is an awesome idea! I think I can go to Home Depot
and buy cork board and cut it to fit the window sill I use. Woo hoo!

No kiddin - I don't put up with that attitude at all. I tell people they should be flattered - the person singing what they call "their song" must have heard them sing it and you did so well on it they had to try it.
I don't check slips to see who has put what in. Who ever picks the song first sings it first. They can choose another song if they'd like.

check your local Staples, Office Max, and Office Depot. They stock quite a few different sizes. Maybe one will be just perfect for your window sill.

If someones pile is 5-6 slips high and someone sings their song, I just automatically move it to the bottom. If they want to sing it later, I don't care.
