I don't understand these people who walk off with pencils. I have never
in my life accidently or on purpose took someone's pencil. Now a pen that is different.
I buy pencils in bulk and probably, I'm guessing, go through a 1000 or so a year.
It won't make me go broke or anything it is just irritating.

Haven't had a book taken yet, fortunately.  Pens disappear every time - even after taking the caps off.  Not a big expense, but puzzling.

The only books I have permanently "lost" are due to one KJ of ours...

We use golf pencils with our information on them and print our own song slips.  We use one of those pouches to place slips and pencils in the front of our books.

The information printed on our pencils and slips is the information for our retail karaoke store.  We are fortunate to have other KJ's in the area use our slips and pencils (they know we won't try to steal their show) as it is one more way to get our info out there.

Susie :)

One place to find cheap pens is on eBay. Search for "misprinted pens". There are companies who dump them for next to nothing because they misspelled a company's name, or the logo is the wrong color. I buy the biggest and ugliest ones I can find. There's little incentive for people to take a 7" neon green behemoth stamped with "Clifford County health Care System" or something equally obscure.

We had couple books stolen over the years (find one in the bathroom stall, one in a trash can). We just printed up new books and one of my guys left one behind. The cost of the book is $32.

As far as pens or pencils, we use pens with our contact information. Each book gets one of our pens and then one of the real estate company supplies us with there pens also. It's easy to put pen or pencil with you name on it in the hands of people then business cards. jonny

Geez - I can't beleive someone would through a book in the garbage. How
ignorant is that.

I love the idea of pens that say something on them that prevents people from
takig them home. How about an acohol anonymous pen. hahahhahah

*Knock wood* I have yet to have songbooks walk away in nearly ten years of doing this stuff.

Writing utensils and song slip wastage used to be a problem though.  I have solved that buy buying those binder pouches for the songbooks, and then using stay put pens (adhesive disc with a chain) connected to the books.  To eliminate song slip wastage, I only put about 10-15 slips in each book.  I'd much rather have a singer ask me for more slips than to find a whole pile ruined in a puddle of beer at the end of the night.

Plus, with the pens, I get a laugh every time I get someone asking me where the pens are and then I show them it's right in their hands...
