Not sure what you mean by "It's own song station" please elaborate. Maybe I can help you. I'm certain you have heard about Chip's Songfinder. I am beta testing for another company basically the same type of program. can't tell you more untill he gets his standalone version out. he already has his built in out though. It seems to work perfectlly along side the original version of presenter but the host station looks better when placed over or under Hoster. That other company of which Danny speaks is just little me, and the software is Sacks-O-Nuts ShowHoster. (Shameless Plug) the "Song Station" or as I call it the "Kiosk feature" seems to be working and has been out for a coupla of days with no disasters reported. Essentially the kiosk(s) are remote computers with your song lists by artist and title. The singer enters their requests on the remote computer(s) and that data is transmitted to Sacks-O-Nuts and entered into the rotation. If you are using the auto-sort feature the KJ doesn't have to touch the rotation at all. Under $30.00 for the whole thing. If you download a demo make sure it is version 2.1
sorry weed tried to word it so as not to give it away. Now I see you have done so. So now that the cat is out of the bag so to speak, not thinking as the developer, which to go with - the standalone alongside hoster which gives me the ability to access the best software based keychanger and software based multiplexer on the market or the ability to just allow the singers put themselves in the rotation by buying your player? Same cost (actually Upgrading Hoster would end up costing me $9 more). but what's $9 anyway? . Actually saving the $9 sounds good right now as it means 9 more sodas (sorry weed I don't drink) that I can buy.

After sleeping on it and doing a side by side comparison between three choices, Hoster, Sacksonuts, and KJamp(RoxBox) I have decided that I don't wish to reconvert to KMA and have my Song request station not be compatable with the player used to play my songs, nor have to give up on a keychanger that is on the way that equals the quality of Hoster's keychanger. I lioken hoster's Keychanger to the hardware based ones they had built into the old pioneer amplifiers where the tempo was truly uneffecte and the change was instantanious. Pace Maker doesn't come close with live keychanges and only works right when you set it when entering the song into the que before hitting play. There is really no live key change available for you if you need to change the key in the middle of the song to help the singer out if asked for it. Mind you once the key is found I will restart the song at that key so the person doesn't feel cheated out of a full song due to it not being in their key to begin with.
Also cost comes into play here as well.

wasn't even in my consideration as what I am looking at getting into now would muck up clubdj pro anyway and we already know how you and tig feel about that, as the singer's station would require the elimination of one or more of the preview displays, not the simple fix I had in mind for the singers names- oh autodkj actually does with winamp what I was suggesting for club dj pro if you want to take a look at it. the interface for search fit within the search area of the media library and in the que instead of the original artist's name you would see the Karaoke singer's name. But I am now way beyond that now as I am working with programs that will allow me to totally go completely digital with my shows.

danny you mentioned converting to kma. You know that you can now do this quite easily with hoster you do not have to reimport discs just convert files.
Anyway keep us posted on your progress. I will probably be have my songfinder in use by August as well. Primarily for private functions to begin with and then if it works well I will place it in my bar gigs.

Does anyone know what KMA IS exactly. I asked MTU but got no reply. Is it a new compression format or encrypted WMA or what?

My undertanding of it is that Kma is a compression method that utilizises wma compression for the sound and the graphics.

Five or six years ago we were using the Cavs pe player to play cd's or tracks off of the hard drive. They came out with the sp player which put sides behind the graphics which turned into a resource hog. It never did support 2 graphics screens so we shifted to winamp and then S & D which utilized zip files. In the process I have tried the demos of pcdj, hoster and compuhost and a few others. They all have their advantages. We use roxbox now but for playing cd's I have always used cavs pe player. It uses very little resources and the sound engine is more than adequate..
The discussion has turned to comparisons of sound engines. When I import a mp3 or wav into a Cakewalk product such as Home Studio or Sonar3 and use asio sound drivers the difference in sound quality is highly pronounced. The Kjamp alpha sound engine has the same effect... They blow away winamp or media player...
With a system that has properly applied fx and sound procs the difference between compression ratio and the difference between mp3 wav or Kma is moot.. My system is sensitive enough to differentiate the between all the above at normal volume and no crowd.. But with a full crowd and in the heat of the battle a good system improves all sound to a point to where I defy you to tell me what is used mp3 wav or whatever whether you have golden ears or not...

I'm a bit late coming to this thread, but here's my :2cents: I do have a Plextor External USB drive and also use CAVS PlayCDG SP software. It will read .cdg, .mcg, cdg discs, super cdg discs...in other words absolutely everthing, including the sound choice discs. The software also has a graphic equalizer, tempo, pitch, speed, etc...I've been very impressed. I use MTU microstudio and have the keyrite and all the other stuff too. Yes I am a very addicted home user . Not sure if this will help any or if someone already covered this, but I'm happy with this set up.
