The Day After Tomorrow was a global warning/sudden ice age flick I think. Don't know if it involved a volcanic eruption or not.

If you read about the Yosemite activity, it's hard to imagine the devastation that might take place.

So where HT once lived, is now one of the areas buried under 150-600 feet of ash by the 1980 blast ?

Oh yes Kappy...You should try and get out to the northwest sometime...It is god's country for sure...One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. WA and OR are both fairly large..Not like driving through CT, PA, NY and PA all in one day LMAO
I go every chance I get...I think the summer is the best time just beause it rains all the time the other nine months of the year...Some of the things that amazed me when I lived up there was that people do everything in the rain, jogging, washing the car, mowing the lawn...everything....and most people do not even carry an umbrella....But then it not like real rain it is more of a light mist all the time...just enough to irritate me....

The really depressing, rainy times are November through February. It's the combination of the rain and short daylight hours. During these months you wish it was August. But then when it's August and you've had a few weeks of 85 to 95 degree weather you wish it was November. You're rarely completely happy with the weather up here. LOL

Once we change back to standard time I can cope with the weather much easier. I gotta have my daylight hours!
Interesting though is if you move about 150 miles South East of here to Bend or Central Oregon it is quite plesant and rains about 1/3 of the time it does here in Portland. Of course you get the snow and cold in the winters.
Don, have you ever been to Brookings Oregon? That can be some really nice weather in the winter. I have been there in late January and experienced 75-80 degree weather. It's so close to the California border that you get some really nice weather.
