I had a gig years ago that was like me, having front row concert seats every week. It was my most favorite gig. My oldies night has the potential to be like that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Soooo much more enjoyable when most of the crowd is talented. EZ on the ears, tooo. No offense to anyone. Just is.....

Yeah Bigdog, I LOVED that night ! It wasn't like trying to entertain 4th graders (for a KJ). It was ONE night a week I was sure to always go to this place ! The fact that it was a slower night made it doable of course. There'd be no chance of it working thursday, friday, or saturday... It really had to be a night when the kiddies didn't want to show..

All that Charm said was true-----------EXCELLENT KJ, fair rotation, great speaking skills, excellent game show host skills. And NO SHE DIDNT PINCH MY BUTT!! I doubt that shes the butt-pinching type to begin with. I think if she were going to do something like that it would have been more like a little SQUEEZE!!
And thats not to say I didnt THINK ABOUT GIVING HER AN APPRECIATIVE LITTLE PAT ON THE BEHIND to send her on her way!!!! LMAO LMAO LMAO
Especially since she was all dressed up in her Halloween POCAHONTAS OUTFIT!! :yum: :brows:

OK, I was sitting here the past 36 hours pensively staring at the monitor awaiting a response, and this is what I get ? I'm going to get some sleep now. Lest people think I don't have a life !

Cindy, I hadn't seen that....... thanks for what ya said....... it makes singing all the more worthwhile to hear someone wishes they could karaoke with me. But I'm really not much to watch, , I've got my comfort zone at one little hick bar in Canby, but any new place.... my shyness kicks in.... and it takes a bit for me to loosen up. But, when I hit the lottery, Ima spend atleast a year going around the US meeting people from here. That would be the coolest thing...... go on a US karaoke tour to meet & sing with KS people. :oh yeah:  Quote: Especially since she was all dressed up in her Halloween POCAHONTAS OUTFIT!!
Kurt, geesh, forget about that Pocahontas outfit already..... LMAO ..... it was Halloween. You're gonna have people thinking I dress like an Indian daily, like some ol' squaw!!

I got to record in a recording studio yesterday. I am 41 and it is the 1st time
I've ever been in one. I'm making my mom a cd of me singing for Mother's Day. My fiancee is a audio video editor, so they have a studio at work. It was so cool.

that's so cool, Babs! it's fun to actually work with an editor and have a producer there. you get more than just your thoughts on what you should re-take and what's good to go. congrats!

I wish I would have had the total experience, but it was just my fiancee and me.
I did 2 takes on every song, so he could have something to work with. He will edit it
by himself. His day job is working on commercials not singers. hahahhaha
It was a lot of fun for me, but I'm sure it is just work for him. He'll probably never
understand what a thrill it was for me.

I think all the places I go to must have poor singers compared to the places everyone else here goes to. I keep hearing people say, "Oh, I see people all the time at karaoke who are a lot better than the American Idol finalists." I haven't. I can't remember ever being completely stunned by the high quality of a karaoke performance. I have seen some very good singers, and occasionally I even see exceptional one-time performances, but nobody who's been exceptional pretty much every time.
But to be honest, I think I like it that way. If everybody who sang was a professional quality singer, it would discourage lesser beings like myself from singing. And it's more of a treat when a really good singer does come along.

There is a girl (Taylor)in our bar that went to try out for American Idol and they told her they couldn't have another winner from Texas and turned her away.. She has been singing since she was vey little..she is only 21 now...We watched her grow up singing in the early hour of karaoke over the years....and No one has ever wanted to follow her....
Those coming to the get together will get to hear her sing...She is planning on hanging out with us for a while
