Hello all,
Some may know what I am currently using, but as a recap,
I have a JVC home theatre system setup with like 150w a channel running in stereo, 2 Pioneer 12" speakers with tweaters and 5.25 mids. Also, a behringer 6 channel mixer and a pc. Anyways, I am starting to do some upgrading, and would like to ask a question or 2. First off I was looking at the 80w squier 4. Keep in mind this is only in my garage for me to scream into. Will this be good enough? I want it to be good enough for me to scream into pretty loud. (This is how I handle stress ).

Some other random questions : What is a monitor speaker? Sounds dumb, but am unsure what it is for and how it is connected.
How do powered speakers plug into the mix? Right now I have my jvc amplifier pumping sound to the speakers. If I bought powered speakers, then I wouldnt need the jvc, but how would I connect the speakers? To the mixer?

I am wanting to spend 500 bucks on this system to either integrate with what I have or move into something that will replace my system. Thank you.

Those are speakers that you see at the front of the stage that face the singer and not the house. They are there so the singers can monitor their singing. Its hard to sing if you can hear yourself.
How do you connect it; depend on your system.

The 80 watt squier will certainly put out some volume, but you'll find it is not as clean as you may like, just because it is a low wattage system. The way to go would be to purchase powered speakers and hook them directly to your existing mixer. For $300 each, the Behringer powered speakers actually sound really good. A KJ up the street from me uses them in her pro show in a smaller bar and they are great for that venue. Here are all the powered speakers from AMS:

I assme the mixer you currently have has XLR (mic cord) for the outpts.  From thoes outptsd you rn a XLR cord directly to the speaker (a Behringer B300 is my recomendation).  Then plg the other end of the XLR cord directly ionto the B300.  THen plg the B300 into a power socket, and yo are done.

I have 4 B300's.  One set is almost 2 years old and the other is just over 1 year old.  I have never had any problems with them, and they get sed at minuium 1 evefry 2 week.

So do you think that the speakers would be better than the yamaha system I am thinking of getting? I am just looking for clean sounds. The current home amp I am using is not cutting it, and the speakers are like 12 years old and crackling.

Personally I would go with Behringer.  I feel that it is a great value for the $.  And since you already have the mixer, go with the Behringer B300 powered mixer.  No reason to buy madditional equipment when you already have it.

Other may disagree, and will, but I have never had one problem with Behringer PA equipment.  I have been usinging some of my Behringer equipment for almost 2 years at least 2 nites a week for 4 hours each night, and nothing has gone wrong.

I have had Peavy and Crate equipment in the past, but found no difference between them and Behringer equipment, in fact I found it to be a bit better.  And since it is my cheaper, as in dollar wise, I will stick with Behringer, from the mics to the speakers, and everything in between.

So it is going to be one of those 2 systems, unless someone has any other ideas in that price range? Thank you again!

I have purchased the Yamaha PA system from my local guitar center for the same price. They upgraded the stands and the cables and I gave them the mics back. So it sounds like a pretty good deal. I will let you all know how it sounds.

Also, I am looking for some cdgs if anyone knows where I can get used ones in bulk, that would be awesome! Thank you all!

CDG's I have found good deals in bulk with Karaoke.com and karaokeWharehouse.  Depends on what they are getting rid of at the time.  Good luck.  Ran
