If last nights show determines the outcome, I think that Taylor will win it.
I was not impressed with Katherines debut single, her performance was better than the song for sure. She impressed me with "over the rainbow" on both vocals and performance, this was an excellent choice for the final show. Her other two choices I think are the ones that hurt her overall showing.
I feel that Taylor had it all...solid vocals combined with excellent performing skills.
He did seem off on "Levon" for some reason but managed a good performance. Both of his other performances were electrifying.

My thoughts too Flipper, but ya know........ it's SO close between those two. Katherine is hella good too. But, I still (tried) to vote for Taylor. You can NOT get through on those phone lines, it was horrid. And I was watching the ACM awards, so I gave up.
The way I look at it though, I've said this before: If you close your eyes and just listen- and don't watch- Taylor is much more appealing to hear. They are both good entertainment to watch, but Katherine just isn't as entertaining if you're not watching her. Cause yeah, she's hot. LOL

It's close for sure! But I think I'm gonna have to go with Katherine. I thought Taylor's last song was sung a little sharp but he did give that big lounge act performance. The gospel church choir touch for both of them was kind of over the top. At least neither of them started singing "Like A Prayer" LOL I think Katherine is potentially more versatile of a singer. But Taylor does what he does quite well. It really comes down to personal taste I think.

Yup, just like with beer. LOL
Odie, did you know the tour is coming to Portland this summer? Lonnie wants us to go...... he's dying to see Taylor live. Gosh, I can never get him to go to concerts, I gave up good ones to see Shania last time she was here. (I think that Colliseum would bring on a bit of a problem, haha, to be honest..... I hate being enclosed in places like that)
Anyhow, one of the guys from Fisher's is begging us to go with him..... he was a Kelly Pickler fan. So, we might. Who knows, it might be fun. And maybe, just maybe..... I could get close enough to Simon Cowell......
To smack him. LOL

I had heard that he and Simon had a big argument and Woody just waddled out before the taping started.

Clay Aiken is still the best singer in American Idol history! I don't care much for pop but even i recognize an amazing talent.
I voted Taylor because he's entertaining and overall good performer. It'd be nice to see a male win this year. I still love Mandisa though

Congrats on your second star Charmin, blue, lill mizz - who are you?
You wear your stars well -
You too Flipper -
AI- I love Kat, but I think Taylor did better last night. I hated Katherine's AI song. Yuch! They showed her mother with her hands at her face. I wonder if it is because Katherine was singing sharp at the time.

I picked up on that too.....from my angle and ear she was off key
this all happened about the time that the choir singers chimed in....this may have thrown her off as there was a couple of strong voices in the group.....however she made a quick recovery. It could have been the stage mix was too strong on back up vocals on her song.
I noticed that it did not phase Taylor when they chimed in. So they may have had it adjusted by then or it was not something that he just does not get thrown of by anyway. He seems really intense and maybe his concentration did not allow it to interfere.

All I know is I got front row seats to see the kids this August when they come to St. Paul and I'm there mainly for Elliot, Mandisa and Paris, in that order!

Katherine's ear piece failed her on the start of over the rainbow.
Even without a music cue she started in the right key. I think that
is extrememly hard to do - especially all the pressure she was under.
Kudos to her.

So everyone has a chance to watch the show, and see the results.. What time is it safe to start the discussion ? 1 AM, or should this not be discussed until tomorrow to allow the 4 hour Alaska time difference, and Hawaii. (or maybe next month so Jian can watch too..way way on the otherside of the lake LMAO )

West Coast show ended about 26 minutes ago at 10pm PST. That only leaves Alaska and Hawaii ....not sure if we have any members from there on this forum. It's still 9:24PM there So probably about 2am EST they are 4 hours difference from you Kappy.

OK. Well. I don't want to be the one to ruin anyones fun so I'll play it safe and keep my mouth shut until sunrise
I really enjoyed tonight however. THIS was a great show.
Who knows. Maybe a few that worked tonight had to tape it, and want to watch it when they get home later..
