WHY is this thread making the song "Rawhide" pop into my head? I mean, WHAT is the connection there?

Maybe we can get ya on a live video cam, and just point our cam at the tv screen? That might work, and you could watch it WITH someone here in the US?

Elliot is DYNAMITE!!! I swear, the guy is a genius in his own right!!!! It should be he and Mandisa or Paris up there tonight not those other two jokers....I can't wait to see him in person when they come to town and am praying he will soon be available to his fans on a recording label.

I think Elliot would've done better performing for a crowd that was 20 years older. A group that appreciates jazz, and the older "standards". I appreciated his versatility, and the fact that he was quite capable of nailing a more atonal, and difficult style. Unfortuneately the bulk of the listener's are younger, God only knows what the industry is looking for, and the kids focus on different things than you and I. They don't really care about degree of musicianship, or sophistication of the composition (he wrote and performed Wednesday). I was most impressed with his ability.
Charmin, Yeah, I think the word Prairie made you think of Cowboy stuff, and that Clint Eastwood 1959 cowboy movie.

I can go to friends house to watch. The show is popular over here. Just that I am the only one in the block without a satellite tv.
My younger daughter watch it online and joint some of the forum on AI but she just started her first semester of collage and is not at home.

Ewwww........ I don't think I got that from a Clint Eastwood flick, I was talking in regards to the old song. I think (maybe, maybe not) it was Roy Rogers who sang it?
You know what blows?
AI and the ACM Awards start at the SAME time tonight!! I'm piosed. My solution: I'm moving the TV & satellite box from my bedroom to the living room, so I can be tuned into both. Sounds funny, but what else can I do? I don't have TIVO..... .
It's gonna take some work to train one ear & eye one AI...... and keep the other on the ACM's. hahahaha..... I'll let ya know how it goes. LOL

michaeljayklein @ Sat May 20, 2006 11:44 pm wrote: I'm sorry, but I can't call that awkward stumbling around the stage and weird gyrations "stage presence". Plus, Taylor has a horrible habit of taking a good performance and then stomping it into the ground like a professional wrestler.
Katharine has revealed herseld to be spoiled brat and has made some nasty comments since last week. She's not all that good either; she sounds like any number of girls who have had singing lessons since birth--all technique, no feeling.
I thought Chris was going to seriously injure his throat the way he sang--you could see the pain in his face. It was hard to watch for me.
Elliot is a genius of sorts as far as I could tell--did a variety of different genres (I'd like to see Taylor doing jazz for instance) and did them impeccably well. He's the winner as far as a number of fans are concerned. The show ended Wednesday night for me!
You have no idea what you're talking about! "Awkward stumbling and weird gyrations" I take it you've never seen Elvis, Mick Jagger or Joe Cocker. Simply put "awkward stumbling, hip gyrations, swinging the mic" are all examples of stage presence. Taylor is a very good performer and quite possibly the best this season. Period. I won't deny they all have talent in their own way. Chris sings in an alternative rock style which in most cases does express pain. Kat is more of a pop singer like Kelly Clarkson. However, i do think she's better than Kelly. I finally agree with you on something. Elliot is definately the better singer of this year's competition. If Ruben can be an American Idol i don't see why Taylor shouldn't win!

I was just out ot the car and listening to some program about AI. The DJ was asking listeners who will win. Seems like 50:50 split, more in fev of the lady singer. some of those who phone up said the guy is not good looking.

Taylor will win by .000001% of the vote. Only because the chicks feel sorry for her, and there are so many of them...... We really need a male winner. the Chicks have had it for too long now.

I dunno Steven. Heck, maybe........ growing up, my dad watched alot of old Westerns........ and plenty of Clint Eastwood stuff. I don't really care for him, for reasons other than his acting, but that came along later...... I did grow up seeing alot of his shows.
Great, get me curious...... now I gotta go browse the internet and look up the origination of the song "Rawhide".
