Did you catch that ?

"Our goal was to show the skeptics that WE weren't just another show that turned out talent,  we were going to go a step beyond, and we did, we turn out stars"

something like that....

Did I mishear something,  or did Simon commend Elliot on being "The best" vocalist he's seen on the show ?

I think he meant this season.

Clive Davis really is a pretty cool old school music mogul.  I wonder why he got fired from Columbia back in 1973 after being in charge there from 67 till 73?
Then of course he started Arista, helped out Santana, Lou Reed even the Grateful Dead had their biggest hit on Arista.

LMAO ..

Don,  I think CBS got rid of him..  Something with Wynshaw, and a claim Davis had mob ties ??????   So Columbia pictures than didn't want him, and he formed Arista ?

Not sure,  something like that... I've likely got something bass ackwards.

Dave,  in this type programming,  do you also sign that you will not use your experience to write a book, advertise inside aspects, and take an oathe of confidentiality, which also includes a partial gag order ?

There is a release you have to sign saying basically they own the rights to your show.  Otherwise, I'd theoretically be entitled to compensation every time they re-ran my show on GSN...or, anytime they showed on of the Friday night shows (early '01-on) where I'm in the opening montage.  It lets them continue to use your likeness without penalty.

I don't recall any other type of "gag order" though...they DID ask me not to reveal how much I won until the show aired...but there was no formal agreement.

Clay Aiken was the best male vocalist on any of the AI series in my opinion. I'm not saying it because he's from my hometown either. He sings with lots of passion and that's why i like him. Aiken's Bridge Over Troubled Water is one of best songs ever performed on American Idol. I also like the Tom Jones Version. HAHA

I know that some past idols have written books. The kid from AI
last year that said he had an affair with Paula wrote a book. It
appears that the top 2 singers of every season have signed with
AI to make their records. I think that their contracts bind them to the show for at
least a year. As we all know kelly was in a legal battle with them because they wanted such a big chunk of the procedes. Plus she had to make 2 records with them.
They didn't have as many past idols on the show this year as they did last year. I
think the only ones I remember seeing was Bo and Carrie.

I too think Clay Aikin has a god given talent. He was born with a powerful beautiful voice.

They did a huge investigation on it and all claims were proven false.
The kid got his 15 minutes of fame. His record didn't sell and no one wants to work with him because they are afraid he will try to pull the same thing with them.
His book never got picked up either. He pretty much killed his own career. Loser!

WOW...  So sometimes there IS justice !!    Excellent.

(assuming it was actually an investigation that turned up truthful results of course)
