Well, usually I don't get Bupkis.  For instance last year I got Zilch, and the prior year I got Squat !

Melly - that is awesome

Isis - I would have loved that present. It sounds like you have great kids.

My kids bought me flowers and a Mother's Day Cake. They also made some home made goodies. My kids know I love when they make me things. My 19 yr old made me a basket made out of paper plates and ribbon. It is so cool. Even the flowers were made from paper.

I spent the afternoon up at my mom's in the mountains..... eating, visiting, and playing music..... the kids swam in her pool, and sat in the hot tub. Nice relaxing day.

My kids bought me a small mom's day cake, and this huge card that's half my height... LOL ... and I got some cute new summer sandals, they know I wanted some new ones..... and (gawd, my kids know me well.... but this sounds a bit hick).... I got a sticker for my truck window, the "Cowgirl Up" one, it's a cool design, and they got me these really cool new truck floor mats that match the window sticker. I needed new ones, and they know I'm planning to start fixing up my Bronco this summer. They are all black, have barbwire outline around the mat (not real, duh, it's in the rubber), and a big "Cowgirl Up" logo in the middle. GREAT mother's day gifts IMO.  The best part, is not the gift of course...... my youngest, who can't save a dime to save his soul..... made $20 two weeks ago working for my step dad, and secretly held on to it, making me think he spent it at school, so he could help pay to get his mom these floor mats, hahaha..... that meant the most. Cause that kid can NOT save money, it burns a hole in his pocket.

I recall when they were little, and gifts were all homemade at school, and snuck home in their backpacks (where they got 1/2 smushed before I ever got them, haha)..... I still have many many things they made me as gifts for mother's day in school. Those were ALWAYS the best ones.

Yeah,  That's how they do things in Costa Rica where you live.

In order to become a citizen I believe you have to have residence there at least 6 months out've the year.   A friend just bought real estate down there and went thru hell having to fly back and forth for signatures, closings, and finding out they have some pretty liberal laws as far as sellers of real estate backing out 11th hour because they decide they ONLY will take cash... He flew down for a closing on a second condo, and someone else swiped it out from under him,  he got his security deposit back however... but still, things aren't as binding... His reason for wanting property out've the US of course, is his ex-wife being able to attach his property in the US...  They love American business people down there    and the crime is VERY low !!!!   Very safe nice place from what I understand... I could've flown for free, and spent a weekend there... Yet I don't have pills strong enough to get me into a plane !

It's interesting that even as American's (middle-east situation aside) there are alot of countries that don't want us as residents such as Iceland.  Unless (I think) a person is a professional such as an Atty, or medical professional, they don't allow just anyone with money to establish residence.  I wonder what other countries are like this ? I wonder why iceland is so selective ?  I know nothing about that place except the island is surrounded by a 15 foot high wall with signs posted every 50 yards that read

Image

Seems kind've strange to me <shrug>
