Quote: It's not really up to the judges
Which is another disadvantage to having only watched 10 minutes, and not having a clue as to what I'm talking about LMAO Oh well..

Elliot has a great gift with those pipes of his, I think he's been giving more showmanship as the weeks go by...the "performance" stuff can be learned. Personally, I don't think that much of Taylor's weird gyrations and stumbling around.

It can be learned with practice. However, i don't think he'll ever upstage Taylor on performance level. Elliot will probably win the competition though. I'm sure that will make you happy. Kathy should be the one booted off the show this week. She has (@$%!) up for awhile now where as Taylor and Elliot have stepped it up.
Chris can always substitute for Live or Fuel!

I beleive the voting process is watched very closely. If the counting of
the votes was not legit every newspaper, ragmag, and other networks would
be quick to tear them apart.
The part that I wonder is fair is the method of calling in. I watch AI every year and usually don't vote until the finale. This year I started voting last week. I was egged on
by my 2 teenage daughters. We all grabbed a cell phone. We voted for different people for about an hour. I got through 4 times in an hour. How accurate can it be if you don't get through everytime. I'm sure a lot of people call in, but don't don't get through, so give up. Most people aren't going to try for an hour. My daughter who voted for Chris didn't get through at all. Imagine how frustrated she was to find out he got kicked off.

They should extend the length of time that you can call in so that there isn't a big phone traffic jam. If that means moving the Wednesday show to Thursday or something then do that. (I can't believe I'm even concerned about this LOL . I need help! :( )

Man it did get hot today -- kind of humid too. Very strange for May. I mean 90 degrees at 12:30? That's usually not until late July or August! And there is so much to do! LOL Just wait until Canby get's that six screen movie theater (hopefully anyway)!

AND IMHO chris was a PUNK rocker. Polls showed 68% of the votes came from the south. That's why it went this way. I predicted this yesterday.
Also tuesday night a lot of people watching were there just because it was music of THE KING. The wouldnt have voted for someone who wanted to turnuin it into a screaming pun rock song. Elvis fans like his music the way it was. Actually what he dos is considered main stream rock. IT's too bad that music that came from an artist whose only chance at fame came from the smartness of the manager of the artist rather than the actual talent was used to unseat the only one who had the real thought of what america wants today- simon's words not mine. Consider that elvis while having average talent used publicity and the wiseness of a great manager to make it big. I'd rather buy Chris's music than anything Elvis ever did.
I am no fan of the King, but to say he is average.... You should have your EARS check and maybe your head.

It is cold and rainy here in Chicago. Spring is here though and the flowers are blooming. Now if I could keep the darn squirrels out of my garden I'd be happy.

I just saw the 5/16 AI. I think it's safe to say that Elliot is gone. Judge Randy was right that he sang that "Do For Love" pretty much sharp all the way through. Plus the Ray Charles song he chose just didn't work IMO.
I think I'm going to have to give Kathrine a slight edge over Taylor. She did exceptionally well on "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". Taylor did exceptionally well on Try A Little Tenderness though. It's a close call between those two. It was funny and kind of sad that everybody seemed to hesitate picking anything current for fear of being directly compared to that artist.
The judges are burned out I think. They don't seem to make consistently valid judgements. Elliot was sharp on that Do For Love song. Randy caught it, but Simon said "Oh, it was good". Go figure....!

You know, there's just something about Kathryn..... I like to watch her more every time I see her. She's got charm, and pizazz, and sass, and attitude, and lots of energy, and all that comes across so well in her performances. I can see why she could get away with a few vocal errors, they're easy to overlook when someone has the whole package.... As with Elliot, but even more so.... each week I seem to like her more.
Where Elliot, has a great singing ability- period. Nothing else there in IMHO.
I'm still surprised either beat out Chris... but that's LAST weeks news. :D
I'm still banking on Taylor, I love that guy.

Elliot just started growing on me, but I think he's out this week. Did you notice they fixed his teeth? He did well, but not as good as the other 2.
I cried when Katherine sang over the rainbow. I don't know why - it was the wierdest
thing. I just couldn't stop sobbing. Boy Simon was right to pick that song. When I heard that was the song I thought what a dumb pick, but when I heard it I was really wowwed! I wanted to kill her on her 1st song. She is so good, but please sing in tune.
Taylor was excellent - bravo

Now that's funny. I've lived in squirrel country all my life.... we have silver grays and red squirrels all over the northwest..... but I would NEVER have thought you'd see them in Chicago. That's a new tidbit of info for me.
Babs, just build em their own little feeder, keep it full of nuts and dried fruits, and they'll leave the garden alone. They like compact, ready-to-eat food, easily storable stuff.
Rabbits, are the big issue we always have with gardens.... they can get over or under any dang fence ya put up. :banghead: But I haven't seen any around this new area I live..... now that I'm more of a "city gal", and moved closer within city limits. So maybe I'll be safe. (If the field workers stay out of my peppers and tomatoes...... haha...... seriously though)

I hope it is as interesting Kappy. I know part of it for me is the journey
through the whole season that keeps me watching.

He also has an excellent ear. Last night that song of his was a Jazz composition. Certainly a tough task. Despite the fact that it's "his own" song. He got my respect as a musician. He's certainly no stranger to the art. Yet they all did quite well actually.
For a Michael McDonald "knock-off" version of "Taking it to the streets", I had a bit of trouble with Taylor's dynamics. While his voice was decent for Doobie Bros. cover material, I thought his timing, and phrasing were just a little off, He seemed to drag alot of phrasing just a tiny bit too long. So while his voice for cover was decent, I didn't find his dynamics hence rendition tasteful..... Nothing very noticeable, but enough to make the song somewhat more bland, than it can actually be...He was too close to McDonald in vocal timbre (IMHO), to not either nail the cover, impersonating the song, OR possibly try for a more innovative, and tasteful rendition a bit different... My own feeling is that would've involved ALOT of work on the dynamics, either way...
