I hope this comes out atleast 1/2 way making sense....  :drunk:

I'll try to explain what I need to find out, without sounding too much like an imbecile. (no promises though...)

I use the keychanger on my karaoke alot to sing certain songs I like- but never know exactly WHAT key I'm changing it to, and the keychanger on CEP alot when recording songs- same thing. It'd be alot easier for me, rather than playing with all of it (up a few notches, down a few notches, blah, blah, blah) - to know which key I need the song in (per my guitar), and know how to get the karaoke or CEP track there to match.

But I don't know how to match them up.

If I'm using the karaoke, singing a "guy song", and I have say,  to take it up *2* notches on the karaoke to work well for me.......

Then how do I match that in CEP? (I use the "stretch" FX in CEP to change keys)

I can't ever seem to get them to be the same exact pitch as what I get on the karaoke machine. I play with it, and play with it, and it's never quite the same.

Just like with guitar, if a song is on karaoke in "C", but I need it in "G" (as I would on guitar)...... how many key changes on the karaoke is that? And what's the setting in CEP for that?

I guess I could get out my guitar & get it in standard tuning, and play with the karaoke & CEP to figure it all out....... but I'm sure someone out there already knows this?  :D

The key changes on a karaoke- are they 1/2 key changes, 1/4 key changes??... and danged CEP, it's some % ratio. Double ??.

This is just confusing to me. Much easier with just a guitar where I can say "Nah, let's try that again in the key of D"  LOL

And hey, I maybe shouldn't have started this thread today..... Sorry.....

I've been sick the last 36 hours or so, and thought I'd play online for a bit, but this is about all I can handle..... I'm going back to bed.

If anybody has any input, I'll come back tomorrow.... when hopefully I'll feel a bit more like myself.

Charmin ~
For CEP:
Choose either "lower pitch" or "raise pitch".
Stretching Mode is on "pitch shift".  Precision is "High".
Adjust the Stretch % until it says "pitch unchanged" and the ratio is at 100.
Go over to Transpose and click on it.  "None" means no key change at all.
You can now adjust the pitch in half-steps (one fret change on the guitar).
So 1# takes the song up one half-step, 2# equals one whole-step up (like C to D).
1b takes the song down one half-step, 2b takes the song down one whole-step (D to C). You seem to have to click on the select box below Transpose a couple times in order to get the change to occur.

I'm not sure about your karaoke disc player though.

Steven~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ You're INsane

And since I like you anyhow, I'm gonna give you this thread.

Odie emailed me a very detailed, uh,  thinga majigee (that's what we'll call it for now, haha) ..... esplaining everything I need to know about key changing in CEP. So now I can change a song to any key I want, and know what I'm doing. I'll figger the karaoke out on my own, I'm thinking it may be the same. (each one a 1/2 key) And I printed it, so now I feel nice & smart, and all superior like. So this thread..... is my bequest to you. It's still almost brand new, and there's nobody I'd rather see have it than YOU my dear friend.

Hopefully someone will come in with your answer to:

How do I download schlep ?

I would be glad to help you, but I'm just a lowly karaoke singer who knows nothing. Sorry hun, but I truly hope you enjoy this thread- my gift to you.  :D

*Yeah* SOMEbody needs to slack off the cough & cold drugs, LmAo...  :drunk:

Oh, gosh, LOOK what popped up while I was surfing. Hmmmm....... strange coincidence:

Quote:
schlep or schlepp also shlep  (shlp) Slang
v. schlepped also shlepped, schlep·ping or schlepp·ing also shlep·ping, schleps or schlepps also shleps
v.tr.
To carry clumsily or with difficulty; lug: schlepped a shopping bag around town.
v.intr.
To move slowly or laboriously: schlepped around with the twins in a stroller.
n.
1. An arduous journey.
2. A clumsy or stupid person.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Yiddish shlepn, to drag, pull, from Middle Low German slpen; see lei- in Indo-European roots.]

So, going by this description:

Are you calling me:

Quote:
2. A clumsy or stupid person.
???

Cause I'm not clumsy, I'm actually very adept on my feet. (and my hands & knees..... AND on my back)

And I'm ignorant about certain things.... there's alot I've yet to learn.... but I'z not stoopid Mista Steven suh, no suh I'z not.

Actually, I recently took an IQ test, and I tested at 122....... not "genious", but close enough for a gal raised in the sticks on a cattle ranch.

And, my grandmother is from Louisiana, I have just a wee bit of Marie Laveau in my blood, along with my Irish and Choctaw roots..... so I can cast a spell on my enemies that's out of this world. Better be nice to me Steven.  :reddevil:

Hmmmmmm...... aNOther definition popped up while surfing:

Quote:
schlepp
One entry found for schlepp.

Main Entry: schlepp
Variant(s): or schlep  /'shlep/
Function: verb
Etymology: Yiddish shlepn, from Middle High German sleppen, from Middle Low German slEpen
transitive senses : DRAG, HAUL
intransitive senses : to proceed or move slowly, tediously, or awkwardly

Nothing said here about "stupid" at all.

Steven, are you part German? Now, I've been called dumb before..... lots of times.... and yes, the guy still lives, haha. But never in this language.  :headscratch:

Assuming you took a standardized type test such as Stanford-Binet, or Wechsler that'd put you in about the top 6-8% bracket roughly (nationally). Yet one IQ test doesn't determine an actually IQ. Takes a series of them, and usually more than just the verbal non-verbal written part. After averaging in about 3 different tests, ones IQ is significantly lower that the "5th" grade Lorge Thorndike test they took years back.   Did a doc have you play with blocks while he had a stopwatch ?  Did you have to match designs with blocks that were half red and half white ?   Did you have to recite strings of numbers backwards, letters ?  IQ tests suck !  Did they strap a peanut butter cup to your butt, to see how long you ran around in circles to try to catch it ?  I HATE when they do that !!  For some reason I just don't catch on.  A few years back I was on the floor running, and I knocked into a desk leg... Naturally I did the correct thing.  I reversed direction !

I'm Lithuanian, but have a grandmother who was German.

"SHTOONK" is always spelled with two O's by the way ! Lest you make an ippishy nebbish out've yourself, and few wish this to happen ~

Worst part of those IQ tests is the shock you get when you take the wrong piece of cheese off've the plate at the end of the wrong corridor. It's also indignant the way they pet your nose, and drop a raw fish into your mouth when the plastic ball fall's off your nose.  I started to get a tad suspicious of this psychologists actual credentials. I suppose when you test so far off the scale,  they need to give you a supplemental portion of the IQ test !   That's probably why I'm "special",  VERY few test in the percentile I do      (don't ask me about the pink tutu, and what happened to my ankle when I tried to jump up and grab the steak)  :(

I'll find out what the test was, and PM it to you. No, it wasn't given at Stanford or anything of the sort.

Though...... I did have to get the danged peanut butter cup off my butt......  that was the hardest part of the test.  I thought for sure I failed after that one. Had to finally have that cute little Doctor get it off for me. (and THAT was another story.... that had a happy ending.... that I better not tell here)

Okay, I'll be back....

Well,  You don't actually take it at Stanford. 122 on Wechsler aint bad either ! You are one of the more honest people I know.  Usually Internet IQ scores go something like this.

Take score of smartest person you know, add 30 points to it= My IQ (Internet Quackery). It's really quite funny.  In any given chatroom on America Online of 30 members, usually 1/2 the room has IQ's in the 130-145 range,  1/4 is 155-160, and the other quarter is somepace around 300..   Now given the percentage of actual people in the world with a TRUE IQ of 160 or higher, do you have any idea how slim the odd's are of us even knowing people with an actual IQ of 160 ? I have a theory how these things happen tho    After returning home from the voting booth, people get on the scale in their bathroom, and check their IQ.

I went into this room and asked

What's Cep

and I got the strangest responses such as;

Yo Yo what it is honk !     Sup wit you ?

(Considering I aksed them first,  I don't see why they were aksing me back)

Well, I was scared about the result, I had never really paid any mind to what an "average" IQ was....... then I told Don what my score was........ and thought "Great, is he gonna think I'm an idgit?". So I went and looked up statistics on IQ's. And I guess I'm not too stupid, judging by this test anyhow.  LOL

I haven't taken an IQ test in LONG time. Last couple of times it was about 144-145. I don't believe those numbers though. Look how I turned out.  LMAO

Anything in the 120's isn't too shabby.  All that really means is you aren't an idiot like the socially retarded folk known as "Mensans"  Many of which are gifted in terms of certain types of intelligence, but when you sit next to them at a play. A part that nobody else finds humorous set's them off into a 25 minute "hiccup" type laughter that eventually goes into a Hyena type sound, chipmonk sound and before long you think there's a Donkey Braying next to you..  There eye's start watering because they find something so utterly hilarious, and have a histrionic personality to begin with, thing is..  THe curtain hasn't even gone up on the theatre stage yet

Because.... we give birth. And we're tormented with the "girlie things" that go along with being able to give birth.

So, moodiness, and the right to change our minds...... were god given rights. And we use them to the best of our advantage.  :D
