I've been telling all my friends for weeks now that Elliot Yamin is in a class all his own on "Idol". He's been kind of relegated to the "second tier" as he's not as flashy or "gimmicky" as a lot of the others (he has no strange body movements or "look"), but he has one of the finest voices EVER on that show and tonight my boy pulled out all the stops and it was his night by far. I never understand how the public votes on these things--it is very frustrating watching first class youngsters being sent home while less talents remain. Let's hope Elliot at least knocks out his male competition because he is the best in my estimation!

oh he wowed me tonight! i loved his first song and his second one just blew me away....the more i hear him the more i like him....i like that he's not flashy so we can concentrate on that voice of his.....but of course that's not what the public wants in an 'idol'....
catherine used to be my pick....she's in last place right now

Hi sissy!
WAKE UP STEVEN! :asleep:
I was able to go to the dress rehearsal for AI today! :oh yeah: That was way cool! I got on a waiting list at the beginning of the season but didn't really expect to get a ticket. I was lucky to get in to the dress rehersal. I was very excited when I got an email saying I could "come on down!" :dancin:
Elliot seems to have a big following... at least he had alot in the audience today! Katherine flubbed her song at rehearsal.... and I was surprised to see she flubbed again at the real taping.
I have to agree.... I really LIKE Elliot! He has really grown on me! I'd love to see him make it to the end! anything can happen at this point!

McPhee did not really come off too well tonight, but I suspect it's because she is just SO GOOD if she's off just a little it is very noticeable. With a couple of the other singers, to be honest, it's hard to tell sometimes, . I hope she makes it through though...she is very impressive.

Yup... Elliot was suberb. Got a feeling that it will be the three guys left after tomorrow. With the exception of her song she sang with those "box drum" guys last week, it seems like Katherine's gone a little downhill.
Think it'll still be a Chris/ Taylor final, bit I'll cheer for the "underdog" Elliot if he makes it.
Think it would be smarter if A.I. just called it a 4-way tie, and let them all make albums in their own musical genres: Chris- Rock.. Katherine- Pop.. Taylor- Soul/ Blues... Elliot.. Jazzy crooner type stuff. Thnk they would all do pretty well, and four times the marketing publicity! . Not gonna happen, but I do love their diverse styles.
Hope we didn't disturb sleepy-Kappy!

I've grown a bit fonder of Chris now that's not trying to blow his vocal chords out but I don't think Taylor is even close to Chris or Elliot. If it's not Elliot and Chris at the end, I for one will stand on my head and suck a black jellybean out of one of those little dixie cups full of Chinese mustard!
I like the idea of giving them all awards though. I think an excellent combo would be Elliot and Katherine--they seem to compliment each other very well.
I notice Elliot's hair is growing out a bit--it gave him a wolfman-like appearance in his filmed clip, but thank goodness it had it combed out somehow!

Funny... I mentioned to my girlfriend that his "performing" hair has gotten better lately. I did not just post that!
I agree that Elliot's a better singer, but I think Taylor's a more "memorable" singer. Kind of like people I've seen win karaoke constests with their stage presence, when there was someone with way better vocals who should have won. Just think America will be more influenced by the "unique novelty" of Taylor, even if he's not quite the voice level of the others... but he's fun to watch. Yamin's starting to show better stage presence every week, though, so that should help him.
Kinda hope he'll make the final now for your sake, because black jelly-beans & Chinese mustard....BLAAH!

When it comes down to it, AI is about 45% singing contest and about 55% popularity contest.
That said, there is no way Eliott is going to win. Think back to your middle school run for class president.
There was your Chris (popular guy) your Katherine (popular girl) your Taylor (everyone, popular and unpopular knows him and likes him but no one likes him THAT much) and your Elliot (champion of the unpopular).
They all gave their little speaches and everyone knew that the one who had really done their homework and actually had an agenda to make the school better was Elliott and possibly Taylor, but in the end, Chris just yells out "NIBB HIGHSCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES" and seals the presidency. If he doesn't, go ahead and give it to Katherine for being pretty...
You think I'm kidding, but I'm not. When it comes to things like this, people just never really grow up.....

I enjoyed last nights show......Can't figure out why.
I liked Taylors singing...... great He is a showman no doubt. He knows how to put his "soul" into everything he sings.
Kathryn... She has a great almost phenominal Female voice. I like her songs last night and if you think about it, she didn't just sing canned songs. She made her own arrangements. That alone takes talent. I can't imagine many great Female singers doing Elvis songs. These are Male songs.
Elliot Yamin has my vote as the singer with the most raw talent. He has never been in a band, only a karaoke singer. His voice, and control is unsurpassed. He made great song choices tonight. I look for him to do well in the voting. It is amazing how far he has reall gotten considering he is the Gomer Pyle of the group. Still he is my favorite.
As for Chris..... He is my least favorite. Every song he does comes out to a punkish\rap song. He butchers many song, and made the Elvis songs last night as unrecognizable as belonging to the king. He is my least favorite, I hope to see him leave tonight.

Okay this is how I feel-
Chris is losing his edge. He is sounding consistant, but not wowwing
me. He pretty much has the same sound all the time. He is really good,
but needs to wow us with something or I'm afraid he's done for.
Katherine- I really like her. I found myself wondering if it was just nerves that had
gotten to her because she sounds so awesome when she practices with the guests.
I'm not ready to see her go.
Taylor- He was my pick for a long time, but when I think of who I'd like to hear on the radio I think Katherine or Chris. Taylor would be cool to see live.
Elliot - I have to admit he was great last night, but I just don't like him. It has nothing
to do with how he looks. His vibrato drives me nuts. I appreciate others opinions, but
he isn't my pick. I really want to see him go tonight, but after his performance last
night I would even be surprised.
If Elliot doesn't go tonight - who would it be? If I only considered last nights performance I guess it would have to be __________? heck I don't know - I
just don't want it to be Katherine.

Hello Everyone! This is how I see it. I love music and all kinds. As for who I think deserves to go?...that is too difficult of a decision to make. There is so much that comes into play when you have a contest like this....alot of which was mentioned on the previous posts. That is just some of the techniques that are used because it's so hard to narrow down talent-wise. I mean face it....they all have something very special to offer the music industry as well as the listening public and they all will most likely make a decent living for themselves because of the tremendous talent they display. Now my favorites in order go like this...starting with vocal first (who I would love to hear on the radio the most:
1. Chris ....probably because I am a true rocker at heart and he has everything I love to hear.
2. Catherine.....she has such an outstanding vocal range and knows how to control it very well, which makes for a pleasant outcome to the listening ears. Even when she is off a little, she can easily pull it off so that it's nothing major.
3. Taylor...He has such a soulful sound about him that even not seeing him perform, you can tell he is emotionally connceted to what he's singing.
4. Elliot....the only reason he sits in last place for me is for the same reason that babs states....his vibrato has a tendency to be a bit much for my ears, however, the man does have talent that is well worthy of praise and recognition. One of the unique talents that make the musical industry the challenge it is.
The order I would pick for seeing one perform live:
1. Taylor...his energy and feeling just goes far beyond his singing...a pleasure to watch.
2. Chris.....he just naturally has the rock star personna about him...also is fun to watch.
3. Catherine....only because she has star quality looks. She is very pretty and fits the image of a pop star.
4. Elliot....forgive me for putting him at the bottom again, however, when we are speaking of what I would enjoy watching more....he comes in last. It's nothing against him personally. He has an outgoing personality with a lot of class. I don't consider him to come in last...because regardless if he wins or not, he will do very well for himself without becoming the AI!!!
One of the things that is very important is that nobody is wrong in what opinion they have about something or someone. It takes many differences to make the world happy. That is why we are all different. We all have something special to offer the world.
Have a great day all and can't wait to tune in later on tonight for the results show. :oh yeah: Bye Bye

I was thrilled to see Elliot make it on to the next round!!! He is a winner indeed. I was somewhat shocked that Chris was sent home. While am not a fan of "power rock" and his performances (for me anyway) looked painful sometimes, he has a lot of talent and frankly, I was really getting to like him now that he was showing a more open side of himself and his song choices. He don't think he was the one who should have left. I won't mention his name!
Good job Elliot!!!!!!!!

Good thing you didn't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet in the other time zones!

Indebted indeed Mr. Lonman for your erudite and polished observation of a most egregious and venal faux paux on my account for which I remain in your eternal servitude for so graciously directing my unassauged attention to this grevious misjudgement on my behalf.
