And hey, no laughing about my ride. It's an oldie but a goodie.
Just wait till I get all my stuff put on it- and get it jacked up- and painted- and my bigger tires. You drive what you can afford to buy, haha. LOL

the subject line definately got my attention
Hey - I prefer older rides. New stuff costs too much and depreciates too quickly. Especially the American made cars. I figure let someone else pay those huge payments and I will come in and pay cash for them after they pay on them for the first 5-6yrs.

Well, when my Suburban broke down (again...!!) I was stuck without a ride, and my stepdad got this from a guy he works with...... $1500, and it had a new rebuilt motor.
So, it may not be the prettiest thing on the block (yet) but atleast the engine itself is sound. They put new dual exhaust & headers on it. And, haha, I guess that makes up alot for the looks of it. Cause dang...... I sound good coming down the road anyhow. LOL Still got a few other little things I need to fix. (rearend & a stearing box..) But I'm looking for those parts. Then all it will need will be the cosmetics. And I can handle that, long as it gets me where I'm going and back home. (oh, and the stereo rocks... )

That's how I am too. Why put $300-500 in monthly payments to own something I can't fix when it does break down? These are pretty easy to work on, if you know any mechanics at all.... and I can spend my monthly $$ on the fun "extras". Give it some character. :D
Amanda- I've been waiting for nice weather to yank the top off....... we had nice weather for over a week...... so, yeah, it sucked that it rained THE DAY I finally took it off. But I only put 4 bolts back in, haha, so I can yank it back off quick enough soon as this little Oregon cloudy spell passes.

Dear Mizz Attitude -
I am new to your country. Please explain to me why I need big truck. Right now
I keep about 10's CD in car. Should I keep my entire collection in back? I suppose I could put grandmother from old country and her rocking chair back there. Just wondering. Please don't tell me to go back to old country. They don't have your wonderful Kraft macoroni and cheese.
Thank you.

Well....I see two things wrong with that truck.
A-It's a Ford
B-It can't haul much hay, and if you tried to haul hay with it, half of it would blow into the cab and get in your eyes...Except in your case, it would get in your mouth. LMAO
Gurl, if you need true four wheel drive, get a horse. Then, whenever you take your top off the sun will shine fersure!
I need your email addy. I want to send you some pics.
(that really is a nice truck, btw)

I am going to be done with car payments in a couple of months.
I can't wait. I will never buy a new car again.
When I buy a car I keep it until it has taken it's last breath. I like the
idea of buying new because I know exactly what shape the car is in when I buy it.
I'm afraid of buying someone elses lemon. Not anymore. I'd rather take the chance
than to be stuck with high payments.

LOL Quote: My 18 yr old son just bought his first vehicle friday---a 1974 Ford F100 ranger--390 ci, big bed Those are good years. My hubby drives a '69, my son is still fixing up his '68.... they both have 390's. Yup, those motors can haul. (especially if you get a 4 barrel carb) Not nice on gas mileage though. Quote: What part of Oregon are you in? A little town kinda 1/2 way between Portland & Salem. (Canby) Quote: ....you got satelite tv in that buggar.....I see the dish on your right front fender...... That does look like it's mounted on my hood, huh? LMAO Nope, sorry, it's growing in the front yard. Just the way the Bronco was sitting. You're too funny. LOL And you wrecked our getaway car?!?!?! Thelma, how we gonna do our thang now without a convertible? Guess we could use the Bronco. (if we can afford the gas) LOL Quote: A-It's a Ford Uh-huh. And it'll go lots of places your low rider Chevy would be scared to go. :D If you ever "get stuck" anywhere, just gimme a call, okay? Quote: (that really is a nice truck, btw) Well, it's not so nice YET..... but it will be when I get done with it. I got BIG plans for it. Then I'll post my "after" pics. Quote: I'm afraid of buying someone elses lemon. Not anymore. I'd rather take the chance than to be stuck with high payments.
Yeah, I've made hefty car payments before too, and any way I look at it- it just doesn't make sense. Unless vanity makes you drive something newer. The older ones- in the long run- are more reliable anyhow. Try to get 200-300,000 miles out of some of these brand new cars without a major overhaul. Wont happen. Time you factor in the price, the interest, the high insurance... ... and these older ones, they WILL have more mechanical issues. BUT..... they take the price of maybe what? What one or two car payments would be on a new car to fix them- then you're good to go. I will NEVER buy a new car again. Or a used expensive car off a lot. Unless of course, gas gets too bad, and I go for a hybrid. Heaven forbid though.
Oh, and G'Morning everybody. *Yawning & stretching* :D

I sold my Trans Am 2 yearsago once it was paid off....616 per month for 60 months plus 150 month insurance, so that car cost me a total of 45,960....It adds up, huh?
I sold it and bought my truck with cash...Now I pay 50/month insurance and put the rest in the stock market-I liked the results of investing so much that I then increased my investments to almost 1300/month. So not only am I now saving money, I'm doing it at double the rate I was wasting it on a new car....DUH!...And here it is just now noon and my favorite international stock fund has already earned me 900 bucks for the day....DUH!....Who the heck wants a car payment when they could be paying themself instead?
....No more brand new cars/trucks for me unless I pay cash for it, but the odds are I will continue to buy used....So ok, I just spent 420 on all the parts required to totally rebuild the brake system, but that is still less than one month's payment on a financed car where the brakes aren't warrantied anyway.....And that new brake system will last me 60-70 thousand miles.

My 'curiosity' stays up, so ignore it....Just consider that it's natural for a man to walk around with his stuff sticking out....You women have to go out in public with your chest pokeing out and suffer stares and judgement, so why should I be different?
