I know I've talked this to death for months over on SS but I'm so excited.  I've planned this trip to Los Angles for months now and it's finally here.  My plane leaves early Thursday morning.  I will be meeting up with Joyce (Cantstopsinging) for 4 nights of Karaoke and of course will be doing the tourist thing during the day since I've never been to LA.  Rob (Qboyvern) is gonna meet us one night, too.  Ya'll may think I'm crazy but this is the first time I've ever planned a trip like this just for me.  Can't even begin to explain how good it feels!   Any advice for a Southern Country Gal going to the Big City?   LOL

Well first off, good for you! I hope you have fun and enjoy your vacation. I don't really have a ton of advice, since I'm pretty much a NorCal girl who hates the big cities. Just remember all those old sayings that your mama probably told you (Don't talk to strangers, etc.) and you'll be fine!

Thanks, Amanda!  I think my biggest fear is getting from the car rental place at the airport to my motel.   LOL

Girl, you aint seen nothin' till you get on those LA freeways. I went through there one year, when we moved to Texas in 1996 we went that way to detour with the kids to Disneyland a couple days. We stayed the night at a hotel on top of the grapevine, then got up bright and early to head out to Disneyland....... and when I hit those major freeways, I thought EVERYone in that town must be psychotic.  LOL  But I survived it, had to just grit my teeth, and do alot of horn honking and middle finger flashing. Then I seemed to just blend right in, hahaha.

How exciting for you!! I'd give anything to be there as well. You all will have tons of fun. Can't wait to hear all about it when ya get back home. Have a blast!!

I've visited San Francisco a couple of times but never L.A.  It'd be fun to visit, but I
doubt that I'd ever want to live there.  Way too high speed! Northern California seems very nice.

Have fun!!

Now why on earth would anyone want to go to a place where you can't say genderbender?.....

I guess I better stay home cause I'd be gawking, pointing, laffing and saying things like. "Good God, look at that  boy wearing womens clothes and makeup! There must be something wrong with him!"

Congrats on the trip girls! Hope you enjoy yourself!

Oh how wonderful for you both. I wish I could join you.
Just be careful ladies - leave your jewerly at home and don't make
eye contact on the streets. Act like you've lived there all your whole lives.
I wouldn't tell anyone in a karaoke club you are 2 ladies on a vacation alone either.
Now go getum girls!!

Joyce lives in LA so I'm sure she knows the ropes by now....LOL   I won't be out in the cold....I'm sure she'll keep me straight.  LOL    And jewelry?   You mean they would steal my costume jewelry?  LOL   I know it will be a lot of fun.  Thanks for your advice, Babs!

Northern California is a heaven. I know, I have lived here most of my life. I have traveled around the world and I still come back to here. What's here? First of all, weather. Despite bad weather this year, average summer temperature is about 85 degrees and sunny. It rarely gets below 45 degrees during the winter, and it only rains. Only snows here at sea level once every 10 years or so.

However, we are about 20 minutes from beautiful beach, 4 hours to snow and skiing, 1 hour to Napa valley and all the vises of Bacchus, one of the best golf courses in the world at the beautiful Monterey bay, San Francisco and all it's diversity/food/views and weather. Did I mention the sunset over the ocean? We also have redwood forest that is spectacular, central valley where most of the grown crops come from is only few hours away (fresh fruits/veggies), fresh sea food, places to go camping along the trees, etc. etc.

I can go on. I can't think of anywhere else to live in the world, except I would visit everywhere around the world if I had the chance.

Well, as tempting as that may be, it's 6-8 hour drive or 1 hour flight to SoCal. It's a bit of trip, specially during the week when I have to work.  :(  If any of you come this way, I will be more than happy to host you. I will show you around, bring you to our local singing establishments, etc. Let me know.
