I really don't care where, but if I have to pick it would be the stage. I
like to see the people.

I HATE goin on the stage..... feels like everone's LOOKIN at me! HAHAHA!!
there's this one place I've been to a few times..... they have a stage in the corner where everyone sings.... I go up, get the mic and then go BESIDE the stage, out of the lights, behind the monitor where it's dark! ! one time I almost fell over the monitor and let out a yelp!... so much for not being noticed! HAHA!

I like singing on stage! I'm more comfortable, it helps me get in the zone more... but it's also fun to sing fast songs off stage because there's more room to practise my performance skills (or lack of)!

Well, I voted.
I prefer to do it on stage, if there's one available. I like people to watch me.
No really, I will be serious. I prefer the stage, just cause I do. Dunno why. I don't like to be trampled by dancers for one. And heck, I'm 5'1".... if I have to sing standing on a dance floor, I can't SEE over some of the dancers. LOL
(and WOW.... that's a big picture, hahaha...... sorry, deal with it till I take summore) LOL

funny this would come up. i am building a stage for my venue. not that folks are asking for one, but without a stage, bar patrons seem to feel like they can just walk where ever they want....even between the singer and the monitor! sometimes they walk behind the singer, too. i want to discourage this as much as possible because it should be all about the singer in my opinion. for the time being i have the "stage"area roped off.
oh, yeah, and i couldn't care less if i were singing on stage, on the floor, or out the door as long as i'm singing!

As a KJ I prefer a stage because it does give you a bit of a barrier. On
a busy night I have my bouncer tell people no one is aloud on the stage exept the singers, so I can have some peace. If they need me they wait at the edge of the stage and I go to them.
You can also tell people only so many can be on stage at a time to sing.
You are right though about falling off the stage. I've had 1 girl do it 3 times. The stage isn't that high - I'd guess 6 inches off the floor. I have learned to arrange my equipment so if this happens nothing gets broken.

I ideally like singing on a stage with a cordless mike. If I have a good cordless mike then I have real flexibility. With some songs on a cordless, I'll wander out in the audience and walk the floor, which is what I love the most (to the right song).
