Yeah, while I was writing the last post I kept hearing meowing. This is four AM. I thought it was outside. I went out to investigate but I couldn't hear it outside. Thought maybe it took off. Sitting here typing I heard it again. It was the loudest in the room I'm in. Went to the cellar. Seemed to be coming from the washer, dryer, furnace room. Heard the meowing but I was waiting for the furnace to quit running to pin point the noise. I was thinking the cat climbed in the dryer vent and fell to the bottom backend of the dryer vent outlet. I couldn't wait for the funace to quit so I turned it off manually. Heard crawling scratching noise and meowing coming from inside the furnace. The dryer would have been a much easier option. The cat is on top of the A/C A-frame. The cooling fins for the A/C on top of the fire box. We have frost tonight so the furnace has been running since this afternoon. Kitty must have been getting burnt from the heat coming up from the exchanger. Cat on a hot tin A-frame. As we speak the furnace is off. I put a call into the service guy, haven't heard anything yet. Tried to take the front of the furnace off but there is no clearence because of the air intake and exhaust pipes. I can only pry it open about an inch. I saw the baby kitty. I took off a pipe for the humidifier that hooks to the plentum or however you spell it. I reached in to grab the kitty, little bast**d bit my finger and drew blood. Right now he's hunkered way at the bottom of the A-frame. I cannot reach down that far. I made a ramp out of wood and covered it with carpet for traction. It goes from the humidifier duct opening to the top of the A-frame. I'm hoping he crawls up the ramp and comes out on his own before I start destroying the furnace. Hope he's a smart kitty. It's now 5.45 AM. I can't wait to see how this turns out. I'll keep you posted on the kitty rescue. Day 1, hour 2. I would rather be at my worst night of karaoke. You know karaoke H*ll. Where everyone is off key. 50 singers in the rotation. 4 page song book, with one song duplicated 600 times. Nobody can get the crowd going. Oh yeah bring it on.....

Oh how horrible! I am dying to know if the kitty is okay.
I think you all know I am a huge cat lover.
Do you think he's burnt? Is he goin to live?
It sounds like you are doing everything you can - keep up the good work!
And let us know what happened.
You might try opening a can of tuna. He may come up the board for that. I know my cats would climb mount Everest to get tuna.

Dateline KITTY RESCUE DAY 2 ... 4PM
I don't know what happened to the kitty. He disappeared. I took much needed nap. When I woke up he was gone. The furnace guy showed and he cut a hole in the plentum above the A-frame. No kitty. We crawled into the crawl space and found raccoons have had a field day ripping out all of my floor insulation and tearing apart some flexable ductwork. We did find a kitty under there, but it wasn't the one I saw in the furnace. But he's from the same litter. I think he may have made his way back out the hole in the ductwork. But I can't be sure. The furnace is running and I'm listening for meowing all over the house. No morse code. I know he had to be getting toasted in there six inches above the firebox. I wouldn't have traded him places. I would like to get a look at the little guy to check his condition. I know less now than I did last night. Without a corpse I can only assume he is OK.

Oh my heart. The poor kitty. He was probably just trying to stay warm.
Let us know if you find him.

Is this a stray kitten, or a domestic animal that has had it's shot's that bit you and broke the skin ? Not sure you mentioned but around here getting bitten by a stray animal isn't something to be taken lightly ! I'm suprised noone's mentioned this yet, unless you stated something earlier that I'm likely missing.
