Tonights news said we may easily see $4-5 a gallon by July.   They're lubing us up for it, get ready.

Drive a smaller car. How far can your car go with a gallon?

Yeah I saw that on the news last night too. I think it is time for hybred cars
to be made better. I would buy one, but I'm always reading how the money you'd save in gas would be put back into the car for other reasons.

Everyone is looking to Bush to do something. I don't know there is anything he can do?

I think gas should be regulated like gas and electricity. And drop all the crazy taxes on gas. Gas is a necessity to many lively hoods and when it goes up our economy suffers. It isn't a loof of bread. Chicago is the worst for taxing gas.

We're up to $3 a gallon here. I don't know if I should fill up today or not. If I wait it could get worse.

People will soon need to start doing what's been done in the past. Carpooling. Lazy jerks around here still drive 50 feet to get a cup of coffee, or newpaper.  It's ludicrous, they don't walk, they drive everyplace regardless of how close it is to home

Driving home today most places had just hit 3.00 a gallon.  I saw a place that was 2.85 and thought "What a bargain!!" So I stoppped and filled up.

Sad when you think 2.85 is a good deal

Remember Mr. Garrison on South Park invented that peddled vehicle that went 200 mph.......with the price of gas......maybe dealing with those controls wouldn't be so bad after all.....lol.......jj

The higher the gas price gets, the better my horses look.

I save two ways...no gas for the lawn mower cause the eat the lawn, and no gas to go down the road.....

And riding is considered 'recreation'.

I'd like to see $7 to $8 a gallon. It would be the death of the $100 a night KJ.

Given alot of what the bar business is up against these days, that type gasoline price would likely be the death of ALOT of entertainment, not to mention a certain percentage of the bars that are barely hanging in.  How many would travel to go to a place that has "decent" entertainment at that dollar/gallon rate ?   It might be the end of the costlier entertainment, and do just the opposite. Force bar owners to really skimp, and settle for people who work for far less.. Even go totally without, and if they can afford to open two-three night per week, do just that... Bar's and clubs are a luxury,  when the economy is hurting, luxury areas do start to suffer to an extent.  Entertainers certainly would... Local kids would be hired for less...

If gasoline prices double or triple ALOT more than local transportation will skyrocket.  Produce prices, food costs in general, everything that requires importation and exportation will be suffering.  Busnesses in general will take quite a hit, and during a depressed economy people end up taking pay check hits, not increases.  They MUST work for less.

Why I haven't thought about the importance of people once again getting locking gas caps for older cars that don't have them eludes me.... In the 70's and 60's during a problem with gasoline prices people's cars were getting siphoned constantly... I can imagine more vandelism will occur as prices increase too. Not to mention postal and UPS rates increasing. I'm afraid things are going to get REALLY ugly across the board.  This is going to hurt ALOT.. If the cost of gas is rediculously high, people will stay local taking pay cuts as long as they can get medical bene's... After all, how many will be able to commute 45 minutes one way in stop and go traffic assuming gas prices are 7 bucks/ gallon ?  How much of a pay check can you take home if it costs you a few hundred a week on gasoline assuming you have noone you can carpool with ??  What will this do to the real estate market ?  How about domestic plane fare ?   Who will be able to afford to travel from their nice home in the suburbs and into a city they work in ?  Everything will end up apartments and condo's near work if this doesn't let up anytime soon...
Hybrid car technology needs to pick up fast. Assuming electric cars are restricted to lower traveling speeds, they are going to look REALLY appealing soon, if not already

Just a thought.

I think it would be the death of the $200 on up nights as well.  We had a local news report up here & can only assume it's going to be similar situations in other areas too, that people aren't going out as much or limit their driving to closer to home.  Some stated they only go out 1 night a week as opposed to more.  Some said that the extra gas prices have cut into their "entertainment" spending habits.  If bars see a decrease in business - yeah the $100 kj may go away, but bet you $$ to donoughts, the higher priced companies will go first, especially if people do stay away because of that reason.

Hundred dollar a nighters will disappear.     We will become the hundred dollar a nighters.   If we down size quickly we could become our own competition.   I'm going to K-Mart.    See ya,.....gotta run.....
