Idol was good tonight - so many talented singers this year

But Elf boy has to go!

I say Catherine, rocker Chris and Taylor Hicks are the last 3 standing.

Good points - Those would be my 3. It will be interesting to see what happens because they are all so good. I don't care much for Ace, but I know people will vote for him because he is good looking. and you are so right aboyt Kellie.

I disagree...

I love Elliott and Chris. Kathryn can stay. Kellie must go, she sounded awful but she does have a huge fan base because of her personality. I'm not crazy about Paris, she bugs me (not sure if it's her voice or her personality). Taylor and Ace are two that I really don't care about. They don't really stand out to me.

Even though it was Rod Stewart Week, none of them did a real Rod Stewart song did they?  From what I saw, they all did old standards and ballads that Rod himself did cover versions of.  Rather odd!

My list

Ace - No
Bucky - No
Chris - Top 3
Elliott - No
Katherine - Possible Top 3
Kellie - Possible Top 3
Kevin - No, No, No No No nonononono!!!
Lisa - Possible
Mandisa - Possible
Paris - No
Taylor - Top 3

Taylor didn't do that great last night - very boring song for him-
But his personality will pull him through to the end - Plus he is original-
Although I think Chris the rocker will win - I love Taylor Hicks

LMAO

I biotched all the way through that show last night. I didn't like any of the song choices. If I could be judge and jury, I'd just hand the contract to Taylor, cause I like him..... he's different, and kinda unique. I think- who's the "best singer" aside- Taylor would draw the largest fan base, and sell more records.

Paris needs to go, Kellie needs to go to Nashville Star (or, I'm still holding out for a rerun of HeeHaw starring her).... Ace is wierd, Chris is too dang full of himself, Elliot needs to star in a movie (a christmas one..... yup, you guessed it, he should be one of Santa's lil' helpers IMO).....

I'm just P-O'd that Bucky is gone. He wasn't the best- but he had such a cool voice. He shouldn't be gone YET.

But yanno, maybe... getting that far and then being booted off is not the worst. That way, they've been in the spotlight, they're bound to have producers trying to contact them with various offers..... and they wont get stuck in some anal contract with AI people. They'll have "choices" with where they want to go. Just a thought.

As I've said before, it's all fake..

Sorry if that blows up your preconcieved ideas, but here in L. A., we hear this stuff..

It's controlled from the entry signup, through the vote process..

If I could, I'd cuss here..n!nnn.. LMAO

I'm a HUGE fan of Taylor Hicks.  I have been told in three different states since Idol started up again that my stage and singing style is very close to him.  I actually don't watch Idol but caught it last night and I was shocked - he sure does have a very similar style.  Frankly I'm very flattered when I'm told this because IMHO Taylor has more talent in his pinky than I do in my whole body.  That guy can sing and it was definitely one of the better performances last night.

Katharine McPhee's singing was sublime last night, what a voice - too much of looking directly into the camera IMHO but hands down blew away all the other singers last night.

She can do no wrong - what a crock.  She was AWFUL (second worst IMHO).  Like she had never even heard or practiced the damn song.  But she is trucking right along.  Seems the opinion is Taylor will make the top three on a few stories I've read.

They were doing songs from Rod Stewart's Great America Songbook

Which you could consider to be standards.

Shyguy - am I not being consistant?
It is nice to know someone is listening to me. LMAO
Sometimes I'm torn week to week depending on how well the performances were.
I was really surprised at the bottom 3 this week.
I guess I better start voting.
When it comes to voting for someone I don't know week to week who I like more.
But I always think Taylor Hicks, Cathern and rocker Chris are tops.

Okay next week Elf boy has to go - darn it anyways.

I'm glad Ace is gone though.

It's hard to believe I've heard Rod Stewart for 40 years (blues stuff in the 60's such as his version of Hoochie Coochie Man, and Yardbirds stuff, than Small faces)  Rod Stewart isn't the voice on Itchykoo Park is he ?

Kelly totally tanked her performance on Tuesday night!!!  Goes to show it really isn't about talent but rather a popularity contest.  While I don't think Ace would even place in the top 3 he didn't deserve to go last night.

My top 3 picks:  Chris, Taylor and Katherine

Love Taylor but I'm pulling for Chris, it's time for a rocker to win!!!

My top 3 picks (in no particular order) are Chris, Paris, Taylor, and Kelly.

Wait a minute, that's 4! Anyway, I think 3 of those 4 will make the final 3 - I just don't know which 3!

Paris has a phenomenol voice for a 17 year old, but I don't think she's polished and experienced enough to win it all. Kelly is really cute (a big plus) and very good when she sticks to country songs. I wouldn't think a country singer could win this competition when most of the voters are between 12 and 17 but, then again, Kerri Underwood won last year, so I obviously don't know what I'm talking about, there. Taylor Hicks is very good at what he does, but he looks too old (although he's not) and his style appeals more to a 30 - 50 year old demographic.

For these reasons I think Chris has the best chance of winning, but he needs to follow this strategy. (Send him an email referencing this thread!)

He needs to stick to singing alternative / college rock as long as there are 3 or more singers left. The other singers will split the Pop / Country / Mainstream Rock vote and there are enough people who like the Creed, Nickelback, Shinedown, etc. style of music to keep him in the running. When it gets down to 2 people he needs to do the best mainstream pop song of his life and he should win it all. After he gets his contract, he can go back to doing the kind of songs he and I love. :dancin:

I think Kelly is cute too and yes I buy the gullible country girl thing.
I actually really like her, but she is young and needs more training.
I think she'll probably be another Dolly Parton.
I'm just afraid the industry will eat her up. She is so gullible.

Have you seen kelly Clarkson lately. Talk about an image change.
Hair, makeup, half dressed. I still follow her and love her music, but
put some clothes on.
