Does anyone know why gas prices have just gone up? They are
$2.89 a gallon here. I know they usually go up for the holiday weekends, but
this is crazy.

My daughter is 19 and is always asking me why are gas prices so high.
I can't explain why one week they go down and the next they go up. When it flooded in New orleans that was a reason, but besides that it doesn't make sense. Sure we have problems with buying oil over seas, but that can't change week to week. Can it?

My car do not have gas tank, it have petrol tank . And it cost RM 1.78 per liter. How much is that in the gallon? We just had a 25% increase in the price. And it still subsidised. It now cost me RM30 in gas to singing. I normaly spent less than RM30 on drink. It hurt the pocket far too much.

First of the profits made by gas companies it a lot less than what is made by a lot other companies. WHere the profits are mad is from the crude oil from forieng countries, those are the people gettig rich, not US Oil companies.
I think we hare in the USA need to take a step back, and consider that gasioline is CHEAP for us, as compared to other countries. This last winter I went on vacation to Europe (Germany, Crotaia, and England) and they are paying from $5.00 to $8.00 per gallon of gas.

Hey, that is a good point. But sssshhhhhh..... or they'll be raising the price, they probably haven't thought of that yet.
Gas prices..... suck. I have a Bronco, and a Suburban, both of which absolutely slurp the gasoline. I'm still refusing to go buy a tin can 4 banger to drive, but I may have to if this keeps up.

The last news report I just watched stated that gas was going up NOT because of oil prices, but because of an Ethynol shortage (yeah right) - the additive to help it burn better for pullution control.

which works out to be $3.89 per gallon!
there are rumors that the gas is supposed to go up to $1.40 per litre during the May long weekend ( $5.29 per gallon)
DID I MENTION WE PRODUCE THE FRICKEN STUFF HERE???

Crystal, when you come down here in August.... we'll just load you up with a bunch of gas cans full of gas to take back with ya, 'k?
(could you PICTURE that..... trying to get on the airplane?: "oh but this little 3 gallon can??... this is my carry on") LOL
Yesterday....... I think I paid $2.52........ compared to $2.46 last week. And that's at the cheapest little market out of town.
Re-dic-alus.

Odie..... you KNOW I don't go to Portland. I took Zach & Amber to a Blazer game 3 weeks ago..... and it took me about $12 in my Bronco. (it was about 8 gallon of gas)

That's very true, and I don't doubt the statistics in your charts. But I think what really hurts is not how much gas has gone up since 1982, but how much it has gone up recently. When I moved from Chicago to Topeka, in October '98, gas here was $0.799 per gallon. Now it's $2.699 per gallon. That's an increase of 237% in 7 1/2 years! In 1982, gas was around $1.60 per gal. Over the 25 year period cited in your chart, if gas had gone up as fast as it did in the last 8 years, today it would be about $12.65 per gallon!
We got spoiled at the end of the last decade with very cheap gas, but now it's going up much faster than other costs, with the possible exception of health care.
Market correction, maybe?

Crystal, try $1.125 a litre. Boy, you spoiled Alberta girls. Did you enjoy Ralphie's $400 cheque.

Courtesy of fears over a war in Iran and a potential disruption in transporting oil.
