Last night I go into work and what do I find?

A big dirt hole where my stage is.  :O

You've got to be kidding!

It was sectioned off with caution tape draped around chairs.
1/4 of the stage was put together. It is a small stage. The owner
wanted me to set up and play anyway. So I had karaoke all night singing
next to a dirt hole. Thank goodness I had a small crowd.

what was the hole doing there anyway?

would have been nice if the owner had called you and given you heads up before you started your night. Wait a minute....that would require the owner to show some professional courtesy....What was I thinking!  LOL

Probably group picture's were being taken Flipper.  You ever see the beginning to King Ralph ?   Sometimes when photographer's make a little mistake, everything explodes and kills everyone....  That's the Only reason John Goodman is King if England now !  I mean seriously !!  Why else would England want John Goodman to be the King unless the photographer really blew up the royal family during a photoshoot !

Hope it's a temporary inconvenience for a permanent improvement.   Nothing surprises me when I'm walking into a bar anymore.    Christmas time it's a x-mas tree right where I set up.   Next time it's new decorative potted trees or dining table that I have to move.   Or a new golf machine, pool table.... They never think about where the real bar moneymaker is going to set up.    The new fun item or decoration of the moment always takes priority.    I'm real flexable about how I can set up and still make it sound good.    You learn fast.    Come prepared with many different hookup items and long speaker cords, extension cords, coax, etc.   One guy made a stage on top of the corner dining booth.   He had to help me lift my stuff on and off every night.   What a pain.   Never be surprised when working with idiots.

I love you guys -  LMAO

I guess the village is making them replace some pipe and it
just happens to be under the stage. The nice thing is they are
rebuilding the stage too. Woo hoo! The owner actually talked to me
on Wed. when I was tearing down. He said it should be done tonight, Friday.

I don't know why they don't consider the fact I am their 3 nights a week.
I also walk in to find plants, decorations and stuff. On St. Patty's Day it was a giant
shamrock. I took it down the Wed. before and hung it back up before I left. It bothered one of my regulars so much that when I came back Friday it misteriously
had gotten a hole in it and was deflated.  LMAO

How odd that they wouldn't give you a call with a heads up!!  No, wait! What am I thinking!!!  That would take some foresight, energy and courtesy!!   :banghead:

We too have walked in to a Christmast tree where we set up, the bar's TV on the blink for 5 days according to the day bartender--- did he tell the owner or call for repair??? NOOOOO, that is apparently not his job!  Hmmm, we've also found our coax removed from the hookup to the TV when the new game came into the bar that you play from little boxes.... Have run 3 other coax to that TV and never been able to run karaoke off it again....  We've found tables pushed up again the KJ booth and tables on the singer's area, an extra 20-30 min for Richard and I to set up...  Sheesh!!!

End of Rant!   :grumble:
Susie :)

One bar we play in has renovated at least 7 times in three years.  It got to be a guessing game as to where the stage was going to be.  But believe it or not it is one of our best nights (a Tuesday).
