There is some garage when I play track 1.  This doesn't happen on any other discs that I have.
I would think that track one is defective.
Do you think just this disc is bad or is this a manufacturing defect?
If anyone has Sing It Now - Pop Spring 2005 - SIP05SPR, can you please play track1 and tell me if you get the same garbage that I do?I have included print screens.
I plan on playing my karaoke CDGs on a home theater screen so any garage is going to look huge.
Please let me know what you think.  I've already contacted karaoke.com so I can get this disc exchanged.

garbage, not garage...

secondly, try playing it with NOTHING else going on in the background of your pc. In fact, if you have a player, you can play it and determine if it's a bad track or not.

"Sing it Now" (pocket songs, correct) is an off brand anyway!

If it happens in the same spots it is more than likely a manufacturing defect in your disc.  Most likely happened in the pressing plant.  If it happens in different places in different times, your player may need a cleaning.  Also make sure the disc is clean, sometimes a little smudge will create glitches too.
If it's a burned disc, then it was the way the burner recorded & there isn't much you can do.

It's a brand new disc and it happens in the same spot everytime.
I have another computer that I can try this disc on.
The other pc has a Sony CRX140E.
I'm going to try that right now.

This is just for home use so off brand stuff will be ok.

I just tried the same disc with a Sony CRX140E and I get the same garbage on the same spot.  I'll still take the disc to work tomorrow and try it using a Vocopro player.

Well, I just tried the following:

Windows xp sp2 - normal mode with only one program running.  The spot is still there.
Safe mode - the spot is still there.

knightshow,

Guess what?
Since you said "Sing It Now" is an off brand.  Guess who owns their domain name?
I recently found out that the owner of Karaoke.com owns the domain name www.singitnow.com
I have also noticed that the "Pop Hits Monthly" series and "Sing It Now" series sounds exactly alike.  At least in my opinion.

karaoke.com specializes in that brand, to be sure. Didn't know that they owned it, or at least, sponsored it. I know the "Sing it now" stuff is all over their pages! makes sense!

Unsure if the stuff is the same music. I've heard similar recordings from UK sites, and know that sometimes the brands DO use each others music on agreement.

Hmmm, would be a good thing to test out.

I know I personally haven't tried the "Sing It Now" brand in many a moons (like nearly five years!!)... I originally got one when I had only purchased a few from k.com, and didn't like it, and Greg was kind enough to honor my request to have it returned.

Many brands, however, HAVE improved over the years. Maybe they're a lot better now than they were. I had to be reminded the other day by my fiance' when I was bashing Star Disc that I DO have about ten of their OLDER discs! heheheh

Actually it's produced by Stellar Records, The same people who put out Pop HIts Monthly.

Well www.singitnow.com and StellarRecords must be affiliated with each other.

This is what the domain name info for singitnow.com says

singitnow.com

If Stellar Records produces the SingItNow series, why does Greg Lazzaroni have his name listed as the admin and technical contact?
Maybe the guy who owns Stellar Records is his cousin or some other relative.
Sounds kinda strange to me.
I have listened to several MP3s from each website and they do sound identidal.
That's what I was hinting at.

On another note, I have sent three emails to "returns@@karaoke.com" and haven't gotten a response.  I do still plan on playing the Pop Spring 2005 CDG on the Vocopro player at work.  That will be the fourth email.  If I don't hear back from karaoke.com by Friday, I'll have to do something else.  Their policy says this:

"You may only exchange a defective disc for the same identical title up to 21 days after purchase."

I'm not near the 21 days but if I dont get any responses, pretty soon I'll be close to that mark.
