Did anyone watch Nashville Star tonight?
I liked him before, but tonight was "orginal song" night...
And I have SO fallen in love with Chris Young. Man, there's just something about that guy. That song he wrote, was awesome, and so was the way he sang it.
If this guy don't win, I'm just gonna have to keep up with him anyhow. (you know, be his own personal stalker)
I'm hooked I think. :doctor:
And, since I'm officially "in love" and all that, I had to of course share it with all of you. :D

I may get in trouble for this, but I still think on the average there are more good female singers than male singers. I didn't see this particular show though. Here's a tricky question for ya, would you still like him as much if he wasn't cute? LOL
EDIT --- Ha, ha Well, I was wrong on some things here. See my post way down below.

Would Whitney Houston, and Olivia-Newton John ever be known in the industry if they weren't good looking ?
I might get in trouble for this too, yet back when Dolly Parton became "big" was it her singing or gazoonka's that really initially made her "big" ?
sorry, I had to bring this back "on Topic"...
Similarly, in the old school days, would a female rock/slide guitarist have been able to get recognition unless her father was George Raitt ?

My point exactly. Sadly, there are very few popular singers who aren't good looking. :(
We need to exit here immediately Steven, This really is a Nashville Star thingee.

Well, I think there was a trend in the performing arts for people to be able to look at the person, not just listen to them... Yet today people are more accepting than in the old days... Assuming a person isn't repugnant to look at, there aren't all model material frontmen these days I don't think... Problem is, we live in a culture (and I've stated this before) where people buy the book cover, some get a head-start in the race to stardom, it's in the jeans. OOOPS., I meant genes !... despite what churches teach their young..

See! I've been trying to tell you guys! He's awesome, huh?! He's really sweet too. You should see his fan base on the NS boards! I loooove Casey Rivers too, but his song wasn't so hot tonight. Chris was way the best.

Well, I was wrong in my earlier post. I didn't even know that Nashville Star had samples of the songs on their website. Silly me! I checked them out and the female singers that had been kicked off of the earlier shows really weren't as good as most of the guy singers. So this goes against my usual rule of thumb! I was first kind of suspicious that so many of the kicked off ones were the girls. Of the ones that are left, I didn't really like Jared. He wasn't bad, just too mainstream/ordinary. Maybe his middle name should be Generic, I don't know. Nicole was good, she had a nice soulful touch mixed in to her country voice. Matt didn't seem to have much of a "spark" from last night 's song. I don't really like his vibrato much either. Casey is very good... there's a bit more of a rocker touch there. His Jerry Lee Lewis song "Great Balls Of Fire" from last week was very true to the original even though some may not like the song in general.
I FIRST checked out Chris Young's website ChrisYoungCountry and played some songs from his CD "I Wish I Was Lyin'" from 2004. He has some great original songs there. A good classic country flare. He sounds older than he looks that's for sure! I can't pin point exactly who he sounds like though. THEN I heard his songs from the NS shows. Charmin is right for raving about that slow original song from last nights show, Drinkin' Me Lonely. I even decided to buy and download it. I just hope he doesn't stray too far away from the sound he had on his original CD in order to become even more popular with the mainstream. I think he probably will win the season's contest! :)

Odie & Steven!!
I'm totally ashamed of you two!!
I start a thread all about my new love life with Chris Young (and nooooooo...... he's not aware of it yet, just give me some time).... and you are turning it into a thread about Dolly's hooters!!
Odie- No, I would not be "quite" so in love with him if he wasn't so good looking. Hey, what can I say? The guy gives me goosebumbs.
He does look- kinda TALL- he dwarfs Wynona- but I can always wear heels I guess. ( ) Scary thought.
But I've always liked his singing.... and that song last night, knowing it was his OWN song.... that was icing on the cake.
Amanda, am I gonna have to fight you for him? LOL
Hmmmm...... you're much younger than me. I may have to lie about my age here- AND pull out a few tricks I have up my sleeve. LOL
You know, I've enjoyed watching all those guys on there. I mean, what a bunch of cute little cowboys who can sing!! But Chris took the prize last night.
Jared- his song I though was only so-so, but his nervousness got the best of him last night. Miss Jamrose...... needs to NEVER write a song again in my honest opinion, that was just..... awful. Soulful, my arse, she just was bad. (all personal opinion of course)
Nobody else really impressed me so much- just Chris.
Now.. as to the "other" show. I though, for once, Bucky did a pretty good job of singing clearly. If only the guy could learn to hold the mic properly, he yanks it away from his mouth before he's finished with the line- making his last couple words drift off. If not for that..... he'd maybe be breaking my heart too. :D
Taylor cracked me up. When he missed kicking that mic stand.... he shoulda gave it up, instead of trying again. Crazy nut. But he sure knows how to make a crowd enjoy his performance. For once, I thought Lil Miss HeeHaw showed them that she's more than just a hick.
Anyhow. Odie- you're forgiven for all your wrong doing, since you found me the MP3 of Chris Young's song and emailed it to me. :D :D :D

I missed this:
Quote: ...some get a head-start in the race to stardom, it's in the jeans. OOOPS., I meant genes !... Oh yeah, alot can be gained by having good jeans. Or err, how ya look in those jeans. Quote: ...don't have to go home but we can't stay here...
Now WHY does that line sound so familiar? hahaha

You know, while there's something to be said for youth, I'm reminded of an old song here...Ronnie McDowell, I think...

Hey, I'm not THAT old.
So I'll just wear pigtails..... I always look much younger in pigtails.
Nah, I'll just sit at home and "pretend" he's singing all those songs to me, that'll work too. That way, hail, I don't even have to put on makeup!!
Mornin' Dave.

That's right Dave, and doncha forget it. LOL
Ssshhhhhh..... I'm really trying to pull off this "I'm only 30" thing. You know, now.... if Chris ever comes here..... I need to really pretend. Maybe I shoulda went for a bit younger? 27 or so? And disguise my avatar even more? I've been thinking of changing that one anyhow, I'm bored with it. :(

No, no fighting here. He used to stop in on the conversations in the NS board and I remembered him being a real sweetheart. He is super cute too. But I'm just in admiration of his vocals and writing ability more than anything. I would really love for him or Casey Rivers to win.

Lil Mizz ~ I might have to stir up a bit of trouble here! Now about your statement of
"You know, I've enjoyed watching all those guys on there. I mean, what a bunch of cute little cowboys who can sing!!....." Are the words cute-little-cowboys really supposed to go together in a sentence? I mean is a real cowboy a cowboy if he's spending that much time being cute? Where's the tough leathered face from being out in the hot sun all day and the dirt that you can't get out from under your fingernails or the lingering smell of cow....(well we don't need to go that far)! Or are these just neo-urban cowboys! LOL Just curious.... Totally off the subject, I also have a feeling there aren't any white, Canby gangsta' rappers either. Those are also some words that should never go together. LOL Although I've seen a couple at the 7-11 who wish they were!
