I use Pacemaker.
Unsure of the cost as the cost of the regitration was part of My RoxBox purchase.
Good if yoiu set it before play but if forced to change key there is a major delay in the change to take effect. Waiting for KJAMP as their built in key changer is going to be better.

not excactly.  if one doesn't register it- it starts showing a nag screen if you've used it for a year. Also it needs to be registered for RoxBox to be able to control it.

that's the version of pacemaker that's out nowadays. The one I was given never had such restrictions.

I use PACEMAKER too.  Never was REQUIRED to register (no nags or anything), but I did send a donation.  It is only like $10 to register.

For the price it is worth it untill a better key changer plugin comes around. Unlike some posters here, I actually feel that MTU's Keychanger which is based on the algorythms of Keyrite which is tried and true is the best on the market, too bad it is built into Hoster and can't be used separately or I'd be using it.  If I wanted dozens of each song based on the keys, I'd take every track I have and create duplicates for every key possible, but it just isn't feasable.

Thanks for the info...

Does pacemaker mess up the tempo ?  Like slow the music down if you drop pitch, or speed it up if you go up in pitch?

Thanks again,

D.J.

While it has controls for that I believe the pitch is separate from the tempo and speed.

No it does not. I find it to be a good plugin to use.

No it does not. I find it to be a good plugin to use.

troubador karaoke which has it's own program that utilizes Windows Media Player rather than winamp has a keychanger that blows away pacemaker. I wish they had thought of us winamp users when they created it.

it's "troubadour karaoke" and I've tried it. Totally screwed up my windows media player (I was using version 7 and had to upgrade to version 9), and then my mpgs wouldn't play the same. So I uninstalled it all, and fell back to version 7.

I'm still looking for an option for windows media player... right now I'm using an external key changer.

There are several plugins for windows media player that enable it to play karaoke files.

This site  http://www.adhitsoft.com/jsp/product_pgvtag.jsp has a Windows Media Player plugin for CDG (won't read off the CDG but sounds like it will play an unzipped media file with the CDG file in same folder).  I installed it and it sorta worked but kept on crashing media player.  It also doesn't appear to have dual screen as the graphics window opened up within media player.  Not really a viable option for a show but would work just fine for home use.  You need media player 9 or 10 and it has a 30 day trial period.  maybe the reason is the media file has to be a Windows media file, and not MP3, along with the graphics file. So it would be a WMA+G file.  Might be why it crashes on me.

Power Karaoke also has a plugin for Media Player called Power CDG Filter, http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/prod_powercdgfilter.php .  After installing you click on the CDG file instead of the mp3 file for it to open in Media Player.  You may need to set media player up so that it plays CDG files or you get the "What program would you like to open this file with" message.  I installed it in a few seconds and had it working a few seconds later.  Power karaoke also has a number of different converters that can convert the CDG or mp3+G files into MPEG files or AVI files.  You could then create VCD's or DVD discs once they are converted.  More info on their product can be found here http://www.powerkaraoke.com/

I know of a couple of others and will have to drag them off of a cd somewhere to get the info on them...

the original poster was looking for keychanger plugins for winamp.
I just commented that Troubadour's keychanger, which is only available for media player, was the closest plugin to match the quality that MTU Hoster uses.  What draws me is how fast the keychanger makes the change, if it isn't done instantly then it isn't very good. Pacemaker's change to the new key takes several seconds to do while troubadour and Hoster is almost instantly done.

I've seen it take 3 or 4 seconds on several occassions- only happens during a live keychange. works perfectly when set from RoxBox's add to song que function. Will be solved when Kjamp comes out as their keychanger on the alpha acts like Hoster's keychanger in time it tkaes for the change to take effect.
Pacemaker just doen't cut it for me- I'd rather have an outside keychanger than pacemaker.
