Aww... it is kinda sad that NS folks can outsing AI. And of course Rock songs are remade as country. When they didn't get it right the first time, they had to try again!

I know that you and I always have our shades on. And I personally never talk to anybody that looks like they earn less than 50K a year. Helps weed out the riff-raff. Is that rude?

When Simon says it sounds like karaoke I cringe. I'm sure he's talking
about a bad singer doing karaoke because I have heard better singers in my bar
than on the show, but they are to old for american Idol. he obviously would be amazed if he actually went to a lot of karaoke bars.
Elf boy (elliot) what is the deal with everyone liking him? I'm glad you guys said something about his vibrato. It irritates me. I think he does all those runs just to hide it. Just because you do runs doesn't mean your good.
Next week - Queen. This should be interesting. LMAO
The only person who will do well is rocker chris. I can't see Bucky doing well.
I will say goodbye to him now. Ace is coming off gay not sexy. I want to puke
everytime he flips his hair.
I like all kinds of music although I don't usually listen to country. Come on simon -
you can't tell me you can't tell if someone has done well just because it was a country song. Please.... either it sounded good or it didn't.

One of the other judges (I forget which) told Simon to critique the singing, not the song. He hates country so he hated everyone pretty much. I like country but think this group of idols (Kellie and Bucky are the exceptions, and they aren't great) as a whole are not well suited to country. Elliott is very hard to watch, and the vibrato thing is annoying. I think Ace has talent, but doesn't know how to use it. Taylor is very entertaining, I just hope he doesn't lose that "I love the music" innocence. Chris did an AWESOME version of "Walk The Line", and not even on country night. Can't wait for Queen....who tries "Bohemain Rhapsody"?

Shameless---Billy Joel/Garth Brooks
Don't Want To Miss a Thing---Aerosmith/Mark Chessnutt
Take A Little Piece of My Heart---Janis Joplin/Faith Hill
Now, if we throw R&B into that, too...
I Can Love You Like That---All 4 One/John Michael Montgomery
Back At One---Brian McKnight/Mark Wills
There's more...that's just off top of my head...

LOl.. actually the temper's from the red hair, not the country in me. And actually, I more so wonder who's going to be doing songs like "White Rabbit" to me is harder than "Rhapsody" (at least I can sing "Rhapsody" I don't even attempt the other.") And what about the "Champion" song?? Queen's by far one of the most difficult bands to cover. Maybe we should make predictions on who'll sing what and see who's right?...
(Anyone remember this? :worship: "WE AREN'T WORTHY, WE AREN'T WORTHY" )

A teeny tiny % of guys have the range of Freddie Mercury. All the girls probably have a better shot at hitting those high notes! LOL Wayne's World - excellent!

Holy cow..... even for all the Rock people who scoff at Hank Williams Sr....... some of his songs have been redone to every genre out there. (except, maybe not Opera) LOL
The thing is, take away the drums & screamin' electric- and add a fiddle and maybe banjo..... or vice versa.... and alot of songs nowadays could go either way.
But, it's funny: You don't usually see country people bashing rock music, usually the opposite. :?: My gosh, I have my favorite styles/genres.... but I just like good MUSIC. This place here, as well as live karaoke, has opened my eyes (ears) to alot more music than I EVER would have heard listening to strictly radio & cd's.
But, all that being said.....
Country Music Rules!!

Quote: Hey boys, let's not forget that rock wouldn't exist without the original melding of country and blues!!!
It's true, I didn't know just how far back traditional country went until Karyoker mentioned a few names from the 1800's. I thought it started with "delta blues". I was wrong ! Rock is similar.. It's roots are I-IV-V with a plagal cadence... (and variation as time went on)

Hmm.. now that I think about it, I would really really really like to see Kathryn steal the show and belt out Rhapsody. It's such a dynamic song, and you really have to put a lot of emotion into it to make it sell. I think Chris could kick butt at White Rabbit...
