I have been in Deep poo poo with the Irs in the past. you do not want to be on their bad side.
Ive been a good boy for over 20 years now.
My taxes were filed and My return was spent on a 42 Inch Plasma tv for my bedroom.

where I work we get access to our W2's online around January 6th and can file with Easy Taxreturn starting around the tenth.  the money was in my Bank By January 20th. Now it's at Ciurcut City ....mine were filed and retuned before most people even get their W2's.
The only reason I would ever wait till the last minute is if I ever Had to Pay.
