PCDJ is stable and runs on just about any computer.

The music database stinks, there are no skins I know of to change. It does not have jog wheels on screen to use without their controller.

I used PCDJ before I found Virtual DJ. There is no comparison to Virtual DJ.
Virtual DJ will play MP3+g files but has no hosting options.
There is a new version of PCDJ to be released that will handle video and more options, I have not head if anything will be done to the karaoke software.

It stinks but the best option right now is to run 2 programs.
For my karaoke show I run PCDJ fx w/ Karaoke Plugin, Virtual DJ, Winamp, and KJ Pro. I have yet to have any issues with 4 programs open, it would be nice to cut down to 3 or even 1 software and KJ PRo

I downloaded the trial version of Virtual DJ, and it looks good, but is really hard to judge since the trial version exits and quits every two minutes.

Gonna keep poking around and looking at other software, mainly for music at this time, to get used to using a pc/laptop.

PErsonal opinion
any karaoke software that lacks a decent search or rotation capability for both Karaoke and DJ Music is that lacking.
Fact:
RoxBox has the best search feature for dj music- the same as the karaoke search.
with it you don't need the extra programs and will run on almost any computer (win95 excluded).

so, for those that use Virtual DJ, which version?

What would be the difference between the Virtual DJ Pro and the one marketed by eJay called DJ Mix Station 3 (which calls itself Virtual DJ Home edition)?

so far, the biggest difference I see is about $120.

Virtual dj lack rotation capability (meaning if your slips get messed up you'll spend more time sorting that out than taking new requests.)
A rotation ability tells you who is singing what by linking the song info with a name.
The majority of Professional Karaoke software has this (Virtual DJ doesn't).

Sorry, maybe I asked it wrong.  I am looking at Virtual DJ for music playback only.  I figured I needed to start somewhere and am planning to use it for music only, till I can get used to it, and for now continue karaoke from CDG's.

Reading many of the posts here, I get the feeling that there may or may not be a 'best' for a single suite program.  I was just looking at the copy of Virtual DJ I purchased for $30 as an inexpensive intro.  And after getting confident with that, to possibly then start looking more in-depth for hosting software for the karaoke side.

I ordered my laptop, and according to the tracking info, should be delivered tomorrow.  Looks like I will be working from home tomorrow so I can be here to sign when FedEx shows up.
