When I went to Girl Scout camp, we used to play "soap hockey".  All you need is 2 people, a bar of soap, and one of those long sinks.  1 person stands at each end of the sink, and they slam the soap back & forth, trying to get it into the other person's "goal" (the end of the sink).  The leaders (one of which was my mom) hated it because the sinks got all soapy!   LOL

Cueball -  LMAO funny story

Kappy - Contra-tuba - it goes on your shoulder and you play in marching band.    Euphonium - now a days also mainly used for marching bands. Heavy - yes! even the fibergalss ones are heavy.
I mainly played a German Tuba. It has 4 valves not 3 and they look like flippers. Definitely the best sound.
It is extremely boring to play with an orchestra because you are always counting rest measures, but it is an amazing experience. I've played in a german band,a jazz band, you name it.
I did own a tuba once, but had a kitten fall into the bell and die. We didn't find it for 3 weeks. The smell was so bad we could never get it out. My bother, who is also a tuba player, painted it and made into a planter.  LMAO

I tried learning to play the bass fiddle, but it hurt my fingers to much. Ouch!

You mean rotary pistons and key's ?  Like a Single or double F French horn ? Baritone is a nice sounding instrument too.  Not sure how the register of the baritone differs from the standard trombone.

That's tragic.  Must've felt awful  :(  Yet with pet's the unforseen happens.  Lot's of potential horror stories.  Reclining chairs are very dangerous with certain critters such as ferrets.... etc... animals get into the strangest places.... I know..  Little things you must prep your home for...such as with birds.... To them mirror's and window's are more space to fly in, not solid objects, you can't expect them to immediately know the terrain, and cat's,  I can imagine how easy it would be to get s.... Yet when they discover mirror's are actually other birds that's when it get's humorous  LMAO

I can imagine how easy it'd be for a cat to slide down the bell of a large horn and get trapped....GOSH.. You must've felt horrible.

After learning to read bass clef fluently, and play orchestral Bass Viol, Electric bass became a snap !   String Bass (assuming you're right handed) IS a strain on your left hand, (or neck fingering hand).  The action is fairly high, and it is a long scale neck so there's ALOT of tension on the strings.  Even bowing isn't comfortable.. String instruments aren't comfortable to play when a person starts, even violin, "elbow under", press harder with the chin, etc...  The chin alone should support the instrument without holding it with your left hand... It's a strange angle, but I'll tell you.. Learning fingering on the violin REALLY helped me develop a superb finger vibrato on guitar.... Violin made some of the intricacies of electric guitar playing MUCH MUCH easier.   As string bass makes Electric bass playing very easy, thing is,  there's no going back..LOL..  After playing alot of electric, the stand up bass is VERY hard....  Classical strings just are tougher to play... Everything about classical is tough...IMHO...  WHich is why I didn't like it...Hannon and Bach and two octave melodic, harmonic, natural minor scales...and major scales for 1/2 hour a day sucked   :(  Now I can't play a one octave scale with two hands ascending and descending with proper fingering and timing anymore... I quit scales out've spite  LOL

See,  It does take lung power to sing.... All the females in KS play the tuba. This just goes to prove my point.  Takes more than the average person's breath control to sing  LOL ..  Everyone who sings either plays Tuba, or is an athlete !  :drunk:

And i can't beleive the whole Tuba thing...

See ?  Even Sharon was amazed to find other females besides herself that play the Tuba in this place !!

I played a little baritone also - not very well. After reading bass cleff for so many years it is hard to switch to treble cleff.

My dad is the one that found the kitten in the tuba. He cried when he found him.
We had a window air conditioner next to the tuba. My dad had taken the whole thing apart thinking a mouse died in it because of the smell. Poor dad.

We had a cat die in the drier once too. My mom still has the article from the newspaper. Yes we lived in a small town.

So, Steven.... where's this "new adult camp" thread you were gonna start?

That would be interesting. (or maybe.... you and I are the only ones who went to "adult camp"??)  LOL  I sure learned alot there though.... and it would sure be fun to share some of it here.

Well, I never really "went to adult camp".  If I had,  I'd recall laying on my back for "ring toss" surrounded by people with magnifyer glasses trying to pitch the beer pull tabs over the post.

That was YOU Steven? Oh my gosh, then do you remember the gal who came up and decided that the ring toss pole needed a little something, uh, "extra", so the rings would go on easier? That was .... wait a sec.... I best put this in a PM to you. (for privacy sake yanno)

Yeah, but instead of toasting marshmallows and singing around a campfire, we toast ourselves, and sing by the glow of a monitor!!

Pretty much the same thing though!!   LMAO

Oh, I WISH every saturday night could be...... but, nope. Not here anyhow. Life is the same ol' grind in this little town.  Nothing ever changes, nothing even vaguely exciting happens......

Ah, you KNOW I'd love to come down there. There's just that LITTLE thing called an airoplane..... that scares me.

And the other little thing.... that scares me.... AND would never want me to go...... called a "husband".

You know, back in November... I had him agreeing to go to the Chicago one. But then- BIG SURPRISE- he changed his mind again. I think... if he'd really go with me.... I'd try out an airplane for the first time. I really want to get over my fear of them. I'm determined to get on one. (another of my new years resolutions) Really.

Our family doctor has some great pills for the fear of flying problem!!

One of those puppies about 45 min before the flight and you no longer have any fears whatsoever.

Well, for all my acting "brave" about it.... don't let me fool ya.... there'd be LOTS and LOTS of liquor involved..... the first time anyhow.

If there's one thing I stay away from more than planes... it's pills. I never take any kind of drug- unless absolutely necessary. And rarely have I ever had to take anything. (really....... I hate pills of any kind)
