Anyone upset that they killed Chef on the new season of South Park?  Rumor has it the guy who does the voice of Chef was leaving.

I bought lost it when they had him brought back to life ala Darth Vader.

I heard about that....He apparently left because he is a Scientologist and they did an episode poking fun at them and he didn't like it....The network decided not to air the episode because (couch jumper) Tom Cruise said if they did he would not promote MI:3....The same company that ownes the network also owns the studio for MI:3

Funny, he didn't get upset about them making fun of the Christians in all those episodes....Hmmmm

there was a lot of rumors flying around on that...

Some say the Scientologiests lost their ever-lovin' minds... some say Tom Cruise flexed his muscles thru Viacom (who owns Comedy Central) that he wouldn't promote his movie "MI3" if they didn't stop... some say that Isaac himself was upset over it... some say that he had already laughed it off, and at least asked the guys behind the show to educate themselves on the matter. He spoke on some show on this in January or so.

Isaac Hayes, the soulful voice of Chef, had a stroke in January. And it does affect his speech...

But no matter what, they killed off Chef "kenny style"...

It was awesome....when south park came out, my kids had a few parties for their boys and girls high school soccer teams......my house was packed upstairs and down.....almost all of them had never seen South Park. I let them watch the new episode, and then showed them a few I had recorded......pretty soon, I had the whole school watching South Park......that is one educational program.....screw Issac Hayes, and his Scientology Salty Balls.....and tell Cruise to come out of the closet

it is educational...I love the Wal-mart episode....

I have to admit (besides being incridebly drunk fright now) That I own like... every episode of south park, and ever movie, (baseketball, orgasmo, cannibal- the musical).... I am pretty patheitc erally.... But i Do love this show. all who kknow me, know that this is so sadly, completely my sense of humor.

Oh My God, I think I killed this post..............me b*stard

1. South Park episodes poke fun at everyone.  All religions, all races, all levels of physical ability and intelligence.

2. They wrote, AND AIRED an episode that poked some fun at Scientology.

3. Isaac Hayes was offended by the episode and quit the show because of it.

4. There was a RUMOR that Tom Cruise told Paramount that he would refuse to do promotion for Mission Impossible 3 (MI:3) because of the airing of the episode.  This turned out to be FALSE according to the comments from Tom Cruise's publicist.  (My Conclusion: Doesn't mean that it's not true, but that he might have changed his mind when threatened with 'breach of contract' or something similar.)

5. My Conclusion: Because of Isaac Hayes quitting they couldn't really kill off Chef permanently.  They had to do something to allow the character to 'live' but not use Isaac Hayes voice.  Most other celecbrity voices are imitated so why not turn Chef into a 'Darth Vader' knockoff so someone else can do the voice?
