Thank you I was feeling out of the loop.
Way to go singingsquid!! (Dave)
That is so cool - It makes it so much more fun to watch those shows when you know the person or they are from your home town.

Quote: you know, einstein was a genius too...however, he never got trashed and slept on his friend's couch and einstein never learned to tie his shoes or remember his address...he didn't want to waste brain space....
I'm pretty sure he was trashed considerably early on for his formulation of relativity theory. Given his age (around 16 when he first started writing his theory), and new view in a conservative field, he wasn't initially accepted or understood by his colleagues in Physics. He was ridiculed by skeptics until considerably later on in life. ... The guy was an eccentric who liked plain clothing and slippers. He could tie his shoes, he just felt more comfortable looking as if he was perpetually sleep-walking and lectured wearing his slippers. I can see similarities between Dave and Al though. Both humble, down to earth, and not at all pretentious. Quote: I DO have a good memory...but I won't use it against you...too much!!
Can you remind me to look in my fridge next time I think I left my wallet in here someplace ?

that is WAAAYYYYY cool, Dave! Congrats! it's a shame you're not doing the millionaire thing. not to toot my horn, but i've won a miollion dollars from home twice without using a lifeline! my wife states the fact that since i am a man, i have plenty of useless crap floating around in my brain. i can't say that i disagree, but it's only useless if i don't use it, right? anwya, my only suggestion is remember to state the answer in the form of a question. oh yeah, and slap the crap out of that smug alex trebec. by the way, i think there was a family guy or something like that where peter was on jeopardy and as his final answer he put "cebert xela" and alex trebec went *poof* back to his own dimension! it was hilarious.....ok, i guess i'm rambilng on now....i love that song! ramble on! doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, sing my song"!!! i'm not really fond of zeplin, but i do like thatg song. oh well, gotta go. i'll check in this weekend.....promise!

Dave, Do you have a photographic memory ? Not exactly sure how that's determined.. or if there actually is a difference between a person who has an excellent memory, and the phenom called Photographic memory.. Or is photographic just a "slang" for excellent memory? I wonder if people with "photographic" memories are kicked out've Casino card games. They
could have quite an advantage in certain games.

I don't know that I'd call my memory photographic...nor has it ever been officially called that...it's never been tested, honestly.
I will say that my memory is very visual. Visual images are what I recall. But sometimes I don't even know where I remember something from. When I was on Millionaire, my (now-ex-) wife couldn't BELIEVE I went for my $250k question, but after I used the 50/50, I suddenly remembered that I knew it. She thought I blew it, but I knew it from somewhere.
But...what I've had people tell me is strange or different about my memory is the speed at which I can recall esoteric stuff. I would dare say that Sharon would probably be willing to vouch that when we're playing trivia in a bar, if I know something for certain, most of the time I know the answer before the choices are displayed.

Quote: of course he's got a pornographic memory
Is there a show "Who wants to be a perv?" I'd like to try out.
Dave, How did you do on tests in school ? I had a good college friend, (now with the FBI) who was able to cram for an exam, while having friends in the room, with a ballgame on... I never understood how he could do that. I can't even recall simple song lyrics. Sounds like somehow, your mind is not cluttered. I read LOADS of trivia, problem is I CAN NOT retain things, and I choke during competition too.

I'll admit...some of the images that come up in my semi-photographic memory ARE rather pornographic...so are some of the images in my hyperactive imagination LMAO
Anyway...to answer you Steven...I was the guy that everybody hated...because I wouldn't do homework, and would come in and near-ace or ace tests, blowing the curve (if there was one). I didn't have to cram...I could read the material once, usually, and retain it.
The ONLY classes where this didn't work for me (and I had the most struggle in) were the math classes. I've overcome that to some degree though, and I'm much better at math than I used to be.
And actually, my mind IS rather cluttered...I guess you could say I'm a mental pack rat...some stuff doesn't stick...but for the most part, I am a "knowledge sponge".

You're probably a genius Dave, yet because you aren't conceited, at all arrogant, or the slightest bit obnoxious, you don't flaunt it. I've always had a great deal of respect for brilliant minds, or anyone with talent for that matter, that doesn't try to impress on the rest of the world how clever they are..
That's what I like so much about Karaoke Scene.. Right in this forum, there's tremendous artistic talent.. Yet VERY few that are full of themselves.. That's a great combination IMHO..
