I have traveled somewhat in the US... And what I have noticed is a definate difference in facial features..... if you go to rural areas the women tend to have much sharper features...This is especially true in the northern states that are really cold....The southeren rural women do tend to be a bit more softer in features.
I also think IMO that rural women tend to age faster than urban women..I think this may be due to the fact that rural women do a lot more physical work and are generrally in the sun more than urban women....
Now I could be totally wrong here and I have no hard evidence to support what I say, but I do have my own personal observances and that is what I have obsevered.....

RIght Dave, I think the biggest difference does in fact pertain to Urban vs. Rural.. In your Dallas/ Fort Worth area there's little detectible... Same with Atlanta, Cincinati however has one.. Chicago, all depends, almost a cross between the New York City and BOstonian accent IMHO, yet in most cases outside of speaking faster, I often notice none from where I am, because it's not much different than alot of the ways New Englander's speak...or NYC folks in some area's speak..Philly of course and Baltimore have a VERY distinct accent.....The strongest accent I've heard in the nation (to me at least) is the appalachian rural hills in area's of Oklahoma... Tougher to understand for many of the northerners, and I'm sure vice versa.... Rural vs City has alot to do with it, even Waco...dialects differ in even that one city..In the Baylor area there's often no detectible accent, yet in rural areas there is one. Yet many from cities do travel quite abit, and likely relocate throughout the course of their lives, they have jobs in cities, and often live in the cities because of business.. so it's doubtful they are "native" to their states in many cases. Even here in Hartford (If you can call this dump a city), it was the insurance industry, and folks from all over the country were located here assuming they were in insurance... So you could never sample right in the heart of the city, or industrial areas who a particular region sounds in terms of "a dialect"..A city is a melting pot.. Industrial areas people often relocate. Area's of Arkansas, Missouri, and Kentucky too have noticeable accents I suppose to those of us listening up in the northeast.. Even more-so in the cities...

Ah, the sweet memories of going to the bar located in a Denny's. What a concept!!! You don't have far to go to get sobered up if you did have one too many.
People from around here never believe me when I tell them stories from far away lands...Really there are Denny's with Bars.....Really!!!
They just buy me another drink and ignore me....

Quote: Safeway? McDonald's Oh sure, I always wear that outfit to McDonald's. It's a WHOLE different atmosphere than at Denny's bar you know. LOL Quote: Ah, the sweet memories of going to the bar located in a Denny's. What a concept!!! You don't have far to go to get sobered up if you did have one too many.

They just buy me another drink and ignore me.... You know, we haven't had this Denny's in town too awfully long. (this small town is building up though- we now have a Fred Meyers too!!) When I first saw the sign that said "Karaoke- Wednesday, Friday, Sturday"...... I laughed. I was like- KARAOKE?!?! At a DENNY'S?!?! I mean, it does sound like a joke. And it was a while before we actually went in there...... I never knew they had a seperate BAR at one end of the building. It's still kinda funny too, saying I "karaoke at Denny's". But, it's the ONLY place left in town to do it at, unless I want to go to one of the bigger towns..... and I don't care too. I'd rather stay local if I can. And I've gotten to be friends with these KJ's anyhow, and alot of the regulars. But yeah, to some, I'm sure it sounds funny to hear that. Quote: Careful...I plan to hit the lottery soon...you'd probably have a cow if you had a DeLorean delivered!! Come to think of it...so would the hubby, no?
Haha, yeah, he'd for sure wonder what in the HAIL I had done to earn a Delorean from some guy. But, truthfully, I gotta say..... for a Delorean, he could just wonder all he wanted to. Heck, he could be MAD if he wanted to. He couldn't CATCH me in that thing! LOL So get on down to the market & buy some more Powerball tickets!! :dancin:

Isis, I agree with many of your observations. I was just pointing this out as well as in the difference of dialects, I have noticed many varying facial features; not that it is a bad thing, or something negative. I think it shows diversity and uniqueness among individuals.

Hey Keith!! Nice horse man!! (yelling above the topic change)
You're definitely living the good life there.
BTW........I have an accent, but I'm definitely a Hoosier....lived here all my life.
I've always heard a Hoosier was a Kentuckian who ran out of bus fare on his way to Michigan.
Facial features on women? Hell, with all the tanning beds being used by women nowadays, an agoraphobic princess could look like a farmer from Iowa.
