I enjoy going to see a good scary movie - in fact, I think the movie  " The Exorcist"
is a classic. I went with my fiancee to see " The Hills Have Eyes". It is extremely disturbing. It wasn't so much scary as just wrong. Even my fiancee was disturbed by it. The only good thing that came out of that movie is that I can keep my 2 teenage daughters from seeing it. There were crazy deformed people in it, caused from radiactive fall out. That is a cool premise - I don't have a problem with that. But 2 woman were raped and one was raped while the freak pointed a gun at her baby.

I'm just hoping I can get these disturbing images out of my head. I will do my best
to keep people from having to see this horrific movie - beleive me no awards will
be won for this crap!

#1 - You do realize that due to the human nature more people will actually watch it now because they need to feed their curiosity?
#2 - There is a demand for these kinds of movies.
#3 - Did you watch the complete movie or did you turn it of after the offending scene?

Here are some reviews
"We probably shouldn't let another paragraph pass without pointing out that "The Hills Have Eyes" is one of the most starkly violent R-rated movies of the past few years. There's a scene where one of the bad guys points a gun at a baby's head -- and it's maybe the 12th-most disturbing image in the movie. "

"Bottom line: This remake of the 1977 Wes Craven cult classic is brutally horrific. And that's a compliment."

"Date Movie" is a waste of time, too.  Thought it would be as "spoof-funny" as "Scary Movie"...it was just TACKY!   :grumble:

Who in their right mind would like this movie?  I'm more curious about that then I am about the movie!  I don't get it.  A person who would like this movie would have to be totally devoid of a rational moral code.

Well, from ME anyhow Babs, thanks for the heads up. I would NEVER rent it knowing that. I for one don't read all those reveiws before renting movies, though I don't normally rent rated R for normal family movie watching.... having 4 kids.

WHY movies with rape scenes seem to get so many takers (mostly male) is beyond me. But the sad fact is that they DO. Many will rent it AFTER hearing about those disgusting scenes.

Raunchy adult humor is one thing, but violent rape & guns to kids' heads.... is sick. But we pretty much live in a sick, twisted society that will dish out $$ to see it....

That was a good movie.

I like all different kinds, but funny movies are my favs. (the Jim Carrey/John Candy/Steve Martin/Chris Farley types)   :D

LMAO ..  OK, Going to look at it now Michael.  I hope this isn't another photo you've taken while laying on your back... You didn't fool anyone during that last skyscraper photo !   It was obvious (at least to me) what that "leaning tower of Pizza" poster was wrapped around !

My mom watched  the original (the Wes Craven) and said it was crazy... so I'm thinkin' I wouldn't see it anyhow... I'm not big on horror flicks. I couldn't sleep for day The Exorcist or Amitiville Horror. But I did watch some really great movies this week, like "Rent" (soooo awesome) and "Walk the Line." Those were super flicks.

Ok, time for me to swim against the stream  :dancin:

I saw it and had a blast the entire time through it. People seem to forget this is supposed to be a horror movie. It is what happens when you wonder through the hills full of radioactive mutants  LOL

Now even I was surprised at how gory it was toward the end...but with horror movies...gore is expected! Thanks to the 80s slasher I think horror has to turned from scary to sickening...and granted I grew up with Freddy Krueger and not during the 60s or 70s where this kind of style of film would of even been allowed...I think it doesn't affect me as much as some others. Most people I know of who are complaining about this movie are the older crowd and not in the target demographic for a movie like this.

My best advice when watching a film like this is just remember its not real. They didn't really chop off fingers and didn't actually point a real gun at a baby...its just to show the audience how sick these people really were. Like I said, I had a blast watching it and if you didn't like this movie...by all means stay away from HOSTEL! :O

Funny thing is,  when you put horizontal stripes around the CN tower,  It tends to gain more girth than overall structural height.  Not sure if that's technically a building or a mast.  The two lookout points on her balconies I hope have railing.

Well, it's no Tepei 101, but it's quite structurally sound.  Interesting what architectural engineer's are able to support erect these days.. No guywires on those towers ~

Michael,  you know what fascinates me ?   Tunnels !   You have any photo's of those ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

See what happen's when you start a thread with a few middle-aged guys with terms like

"Hill's have eyes" ?????

We know people are sick.   My guess is more people watched that horrible Nick Berg Video on Ogrish, than the Super Bowl.  Personally, I haven't seen either one of these disgusting things...The horror movie you speak of, or death scenes..

If a program is known to be upsetting, and there are warnings regarding "Graphic scenes",  I take heed to such warnings, and don't allow an awed-fascination with horrific events to become self-fulfilling masochistic prophecies that ruin my day or week..  This SAME principle is why the new's has become violent....People have a fascination with gore, and ominously horrid events.. They not only rubberneck on the roadways, but they turn on show's with it, and buy and rent movies because of it.. This is nothing new... Yet it doesn't work for me !   After making the mistake a few times when young, I've decided masochism doesn't feel good...

Quite honestly,  this is a big problem with many.  Not just that they watch this type of thing,  but as was mentioned,  they watch it, talk about shock factor, complain about it, and give the event a form of backhanded advertising.... You've just increased ratings !

Remember,  Most programs such as this have warnings... Noone points a gun to our head to watch them !

I know how I am, and how I obsess.  I DO NOT watch these, or succumb !   Some do not !   It's a matter of maturity.  Incidently, I couldn't watch the exorcist either..Made the mistake of putting Salem's lot in the VCR one sleepless morning around 3 AM last year, and took it out after about 1/2 hour.  I did watch Calender Girl murder's this morning ONLY because it was rated XM, it wasn't graphically violent... and I was hoping for some decent human relation documentation, Call me an "Art enthusiast" of sorts !!!  Turn's out the rating on that movie above was a joke, it's basically "PG" if that.  there was nothing graphic in it...(well perhaps originally there was, but this was a 3.99 movie I bought...ANother reason cheapo Kappy bought it,  cheap sex.. LMAO )

I won't watch faces of death, or ANYTHING known to be upsetting, I didn't watch the televised Kevorkian program years back, I don't watch the news at night....and I have no interest in reading books written by Serial Killers on death row either....

Remember,  WE pick and choose our own programming...  I don't rubberneck on the road to see who's been hurt, or "How bad" something is...

When I do that,  it's MY OWN fault for *MY* allowing my own curiousity to upset me !

Part of maturity folks.. Theres ALOT that appears sick and disgusting to us in the balance of nature, and the natural world.... Something dies, so another thing can live much of the time.... Not pleasant to see, yet in real life "Happily ever after" and fairness doesn't exist from one individuals perspective only...

As adults WE have a responsibility to do what's right for us, and ours !

I didn't like Blair Witch either...Sure it was a good scarey movie,  yet I didn't like the idea !   These MOVIES are NOT made to quel our discomfort areas, sort've like

If you have a problem with motion sickness,  don't go on the Octupus, or spinning tea cups at the amusement park...  It's YOUR responsibility NOT to do it,  it's not good to support it, and complain  about it

JMO !

(We live and learn. hopefully grow from lifes negative and positive experiences)

My goodness...i think everyone needs to step back and take a deep breath and lighten up. It is only a movie!

I find it amazing that people can sit and bash this type of film yet still praise Mel Gibson for  making such an accurate portrayl of what happened to Jesus...its in essence the exact same thing!

There is nothing wrong with people who enjoy good horror movies! Just because your values dont match others doesnt mean you are better or any more right than another.

If this film was promoting violence and implying people should go out and start killing..that is one thing...but its not...

Im sorry, but this is starting to irk me just like the crazy Jesus freaks who come to my campus and try and "turn" everyone to their way of thinking regarding religion..its just insane!

Okay, so you call christians "Jesus freaks"

AND

You enjoy watching those types of movies - where a woman is raped while a gun is held to her child's head.

Not surprising at all. And, no, I'm NOT preaching....... just stating a fact .

Everyone who has posted here has voiced their own opinions, just like you did. I don't see anyone saying they are "better" than anyone else.

You seem proud of your beliefs & preferences, so why are ya defending yourself? (usually when someone defends their actions so strongly, just as when they brag..... it's usually due to feelings of guilt and/or inadequacy)

And, the irony in reading your views on this...... and seeing your chosen username...... LOL

For the record, I saw this film and didn't like it either!  I'd rather have seen a film called Jesus, The Good Times!  A bunch of lambs and children around him in a meadow or something.  I don't care what the angle or motive is behind a film.  I just think the whole shock and awe approach to motion pictures has gotten way out of hand.  Just my opinion, but I really don't think our culture needs to have it's tolerance for violence increased any further than it is already.  We've been numbed down and dumb downed enough as it is!   LOL
