Don and ShyGuy advice is the way to go Charmin,
1.Stay away from you pc monitor
2.Use DI (active DI is better) to match the impedence level.
3. Check your cable.
That basicly covers it.

You have the Dean Markely pro mag acoustic pickup ? I looked at that before getting my Woody (Seymour Duncan PU)..
That's a pretty sensitive single coil type pickup...YOu have a 15 foot cord on it... get away from your system, and see if that helps...

Yeah, Steven, that's the pickup I use. It's the only one I have, so I can't compare it to others. ??
